Fair / Pale Skin

I'm using Kiss Me Sunkiller SPF50 PA+++ Whitening Water. It's a Japanese sunscreen. I would like to try Anthelios next time.

being a very pale readhead - I wish I could be tan. But there is no point - naturally pale people look odd when they tan (Usually =)

I think having red hair helps because people EXPECT you to be pale, so it saves a lot of "get some sun" comments.

^ i can relate to that... back into my high school days my asian fellow (incl my cousin!) tell me to get a tan....

As a fellow pale girl (I couldn't get a tan if I wanted to, I just burn), this is such a great thread to read! Although I've used sunless tanners in the past, I've learned to embrace my paleness - with a little blush and some illuminating powder (Mac's are awesome), I can even have a healthy glow minus the sun damage.

I also swear by La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen (http://www.3luxe.com/best_ofs/Sunscreen/La_Roche-Posay_Anthelios_SX_SPF_15) - not only does it protect my skin, it never feels greasy or grimy. And thankfully, it is now available in the US, so I don't have to hoard it anymore!

I've also found that a true pink or rosy lipstick can help a lot when I'm feeling pasty (as opposed to glamorous English Rose pale) - anyone else think so? Have any color/brand recommendations?

I totally agree - my natural hair color is a medium brown shade, but when I go red, or even get red highlights, my skin tone seems look more "healthy" pale, if that makes sense.

I'm a natural red head and to make my pale skin even more of a feature I dyed my hair a more vibrant fiery red using henna.

Im using a homemade lemon and honey face mask every other day for the next month to try and lighten it naturally. I'll keep you updated

if you are interested the recipe is 1/2 lemon juice, 1/2 natural honey. Cleanse skin beforehand and then apply the face mask for 15 minutes. Wash off with luke warm water and apply moisturizer.

I think Dita uses whitening products for sure, maybe she bleached her skin too? Like Nicole Kidman?

I mean sure there are some people who are naturally zombie-white, but Dita is like SHINING white.. hahah

Plus she probably stays out of the sun as much as she can, plus the best sunscreen available on the market.

I wish she would say what she uses on her skin.. hehe

I have read that Dita Von Teese wears body makeup as well as face makeup - in close up photos I have sen some very light, faint freckles on her decolletage. I believe that she just avoids the sun and then enhances her pallidity with makeup.

Now Nicole Kidman on the other hand....! :woot: I want her secrets!! No freckles at all, her skin is friggin' amazing!

^ Nicole Kidman is rumored to have had her freckles removed by laser and skin peels.

I noted down the list of products used by some famous fair skinned ladies:

Dita Von Teese
[all of the products are by MAC]
N1 Face and Body Foundation
or White Face and Body Foundation
Invisible Set Powder
Silver Dusk powder

White Face and Body and Invisible Set Powder are both PRO Products

can anyone add to this list?

oh and because Im INCREDIBLY famous

Laisla
Rimmel Recover Perfect Skin Primer in Brightening
Lily Lolo Flawless Matte or Translucent Silk mineral finishing powder

Yes yes^ I swear by mineral powder!
My skin seems to be a lot more sensitive than my more tanned friends, mineral foundation is just about the only foundation that doesn't irritate my skin. That with a bit of Cetaphil moisturiser as a base=skin heaven.

I know Rose McGowan also uses La Prairie's Skin Caviar Foundation and Concealer. Dont know the tone but most likely the first or second lightest. I have a friend who sort of works for her, and he tells me she's very anti-tan. Well duh!

has anyone tried white foundation before? specifically Manic Panic or Stargazer.

Im not "gothing up" or trying to get a job at the circus but I thought I could mix a tiny bit of white foundation with a regular foundation to make it more of a paler colour. or even adding a touch to my moisturizer to give a very sheer cover.

Awesome, thanks for posting that! Love that lip colour.
Anybody know of any brands that do a similar colour?

It bugs me so much when people tell me I need a tan. I just stare at them when they say it.

I just say,
oh, a tan....
you must mean your body's natural attempt at defending itself against skin damage, NO THANK YOU.

I am a pale redhead and just don't understand people that think I need a tan....
nobody needs a tan, esp. people like me who can't even achieve one.

I love my pale skin.

I just wish I could fade some freckles I got when I was young and stupid and thought I needed a tan.
Any good products you guys have tried?
I should have listened to my mother and wore my sunscreen at 15.

Yeah I'm kinda interested in Manic Panic too. Are their products safe on the skin? And how does the colour look on natural skintone?
