Hey guys,

Wanted advice if anyone had ideas of good companies to contact in London for sponsorship of LFW collection.

Speaking on behalf of up-and-coming womenswear label in London who are after a company to sponsor their up coming SS12 show, being presented during LFW in September.

Any ideas? Companies? Advice?

X thank you.

I'm not an expert at all, so I don't understand why someone or some company would sponsor someone else's commercial enterprise and pay for the marketing of the line. FW is about attracting buyers from the major stores and to generate some buzz for the line. But, I've never seen a "sponsor's" name on the show. What would the advantage to to the sponsor? Maybe that is something that is done from time to time ....I don't actually know ... but it I've never heard of it.

I would think that more likely you need to get financial backing in the way of a business partner or an investor for a share in the company ... is that what you mean?

If I'm way off base here, I'd love to here more about sponsorships for fashion shows.

you are way off base actually! but thank you for trying to help.

for instance, christopher kane has had his whole collection sponsored by krispy kreme one season, coca cola, peroni, and other brands sponsor other designers. ASOS has also sponsored emerging talent.

Its about brands who want to associate themselves with up-and-coming "cool" brands. and therefore have their branding at the party, get press for them.
^_^

OK ... I got it. I was sadly mistaken. I always thought coporate sponsors only sponsored the whole week ... like Merceds Benz sponsors NYFW, (previously Olympus) and Seventh on Sixth sponsors .... things like that. No idea that there were sponsors who took on individual designers.

Thanks, for sharing that information ... I love to learn something new!

Contact PR companies and see if they have clients who need opportunities for exposure. You'll really need to demonstrate your ability to attract press before they give you anything though. Sometimes a sponsor will only give product, so like a bottled water company might give you a couple cases of their water to hand out to guests, etc.
