Alexander McQueen's futuristic, out of this world prints for Spring/Summer 2009 had fashion enthusiasts in a daze, but for those who can't do the whole look from head-to-toe, a pair of leggings in his kaleidescopic print will still do the trick.

tommy002.jpg

Man about town, Derek Blasberg, and Vogue Sittings Editor, Lauren Santo Dominigo, certainly have their days cut out for them during fashion week, which is why a nice boost of Starbucks will always help ease fashion week fatigue. Looking this impeccable isn't that easy.

tommy003.jpg

Rapper Kanye West has instantly become an international front row fixture and his passion for fashion ranges from Raf Simons to Junya Watanabe. Here he adds a touch of daytime glam to his tailored suit by throwing on one of Margiela's jet black mirrored scarves. Subtle urban cool would best describe Mr. West's new look.

tommy004.jpg

Within two short seasons, Riccardo Tisci has brought Givenchy to the forefront of cutting-edge men's fashion. Much like his women's collection, Riccardo infuses elements of goth, religion and bondage while still making it modern and highly desirable. Riccardo undeniably understands what men and women want and is pegged as this generation's designer.

tommy005.jpg

The oversized boyfriend blazer is one of this season's must-have items. Vanessa Coyle of Harper's Bazaar UK practically lives in masculine-inspired blazers and here she opts to pair her blue Yves Saint Laurent blazer with her favorite vintage rock t-shirt.

Spring/Summer 2009 marks the launch of Proenza Schouler's new line of shoes and handbags and their medieval miniaudiere is at the top of every fashion insider's must lust list. Elle's Style Director, Kate Lanphear, opts to sling a mini lacquered miniaudiere bag over her shoulder to head into the trenches of fashion week.

tommy007.jpg

Alaïa has been the go to designer for beautifully cut clothes now for almost 20 years. Carla Sozzani, owner of chic Italian boutique 10 Corso Como, has been a faithful fan and has been known for religiously wearing only Alaïa. Here she is in the Louvre wearing a new spotted version of her favorite Alaïa silhouette.

tommy008.jpg

Pierre Hardy may not yet be a household name, but utter his name with any fashion insider and you'll hear nothing but admiration for his beautifully crafted shoes. He's developed quite a following with the ladies but it's his colourful, graphic hightops that keeps the boys coming back for more. His signature bold graphic sneakers have made their way into the wardrobes of most male fashion insiders and can be seen everywhere on the streets of Paris.

tommy009.jpg

It's a match made in shoe heaven: a Givenchy navy leather caged open toe ankle boot paired with dove grey tights. It doesn't get any better than this!

tommy010.jpg

Conceptual artist, Terence Koh, keeps the world guessing and on their toes awaiting his next creative endeavour. He boasts one of the more extensive wardrobes of one-off pieces from Maison Martin Margiela to Balenciaga. Spotted at the Comme Des Garcons show, he doesn't fail to amaze in a Comme Des Garcons heart cut-out coat.

Marching through the sandy plains of Jardin Tuileries is no easy feat during Paris fashion week, which is why that special pair of heels helps give you that extra stride in your step. L'Uomo Vogue's Giovanna Battagia makes a fitting choice in her Yves Saint Laurent Cage ankle boots.

tommyton002.jpg

There are few mother and daughter pairings in the fashion world who are known for their signature style but Carine Roitfeld and Julia Restoin Roitfeld easily take top honours for their mother-daughter style. Classic with an edge best describes their iconic style.

tommyton003.jpg

Worn religiously by Balmain's #1 supporters, Emmanuelle Alt and Mademoiselle Agnes, the extended round shoulder made it's mark during Paris fashion week and will quickly become the new silhouette every woman will swear by. The shoulder is forties meets eighties: a combination of classic Dior and Theirry Mugler.

tommyton004.jpg

If famed architect Frank Gehry designed a pair of shoes, they would undeniably look exactly like this. But credit must be given to the brilliant house of Maison Martin Margiela for giving a basic black pump an achitectural twist.

tommyton005.jpg

Vogue Italia's Anna Piaggi is fashion's black sheep. A rare breed, an editor with a flair for colour and pattern, Piaggi adds spice in the stew during fashion month. In the sea of black, it's always refreshing to see Piaggi's signature flamboyant style.

tommyton006.jpg

Neon was the key trend to come out of fashion week but head-to-toe neon isn't exactly user-friendly. Just the right dose of neon in the form of these Givenchy butterfly sandals, is exactly how to tackle this tricky trend that will stay around for a while.

tommyton007.jpg

The days of wearing fine jewellery are bidding adieu as costume jewelry is rapidly becoming the rage. It's not just about wearing one special piece but also layering it with multiple treasures in your jewellery collection as seen here. A statement-making necklace with a strand of clear beads and a Givenchy rosary.

tommyton008.jpg

Casual cool never looked chicer and here is the proof with tie-me-up fetish-inspired heels by Givenchy. Worn with this season's new lighter denim wash with a true 80's cuff, a key look in anyone's playbook.

tommyton009.jpg

Representing London's wave of cutting-edge tastemakers, Jefferson Hack is the guy every guy wants to be. As co-founder of Dazed and Confused and editor-in-chief of Another Magazine, Jefferson is always on the cusp of knowing what's 'It' before everyone else does. His effortless sense of style always channels the youth of London and that hint of Brit cool.

tommyton010.jpg

The Eighties may be the decade that most fashionistas wish to forget but leave it to Teen Voguettes, Aya Kanai and Joanna Hillman, to know exactly how to delve into the eighties and make it modern and fresh. Pairing new wave shades with a Thriller red leather jacket and a micro-mini, these girls know exactly how to have a blast from the past.

does anyone know where one can get "balmain style" jackets?? the ones with the pointy shoulders

laners001.jpg

While the fashion world is only just catching onto shoulder pads now, the house of Martin Margiela was way ahead of the fashion pack with their extended pointy shoulders. Known as a laboratory of ideas, the house's forward thinking ideas may not be worn at face value but here is a Margiela enthusiast fully embracing Spring 2009's circular cut leather jacket with their signature ‘Incognito’ sunglasses. Now that's a die hard fan.

laners002.jpg

Worn done up or undone, the new Fendi 'Peek-a-boo' satchel is a classic frame bag with a new twist, revealing the oh-so-subtle iconic Zucca textile lining.

laners003.jpg

Arguably becoming an essential for every long-legged fashionista, Les Chiffoniers has become the go to brand for leather leggings that hug every curve and elongate your legs even further. You can easily spot a pair of Les Chiffoniers just from its two signature industrial sized zippers strewn along the hips.

laners004.jpg

In the world of Rick Owens, anyone can wear what their heart desires. From his shrunken leather jackets to draped t-shirts, it's all up for grabs. It didn't come as a surprise to see his female fans opting for his leather hightops and his male fans sporting his exaggerated over-the-knee boots. The world is your oyster when you're wearing Rick Owens.

laners005.jpg

Notoriously known for her lavish ensembles during Paris fashion week, Vogue Nippon's Anna Dello Russo is in a league of her own. She usually doesn't tend to play favourites with her extensive wardrobe, but Anna really favoured her white beaded Givenchy blouse during Paris fashion week. Pairing it either with her Balmain military jacket or pale pink coat, her Givenchy blouse added that couture touch that we have grown to love from designer Riccardo Tisci.

Erin Wasson has quickly catapulted from supermodel to stylist/muse to fashion designer in a short period. Having worked alongside with pal, Alexander Wang, Wasson now designs her own capsule collection for skate and surf brand, RVCA. She personifies that cool, effortless attitude that all girls around the globe want to emulate. It didn't come as a surprise that when she returned to the runways in Paris this past season, the flashbulbs went crazy for Wasson. They don't call her a supermodel for nothing.

laners007.jpg

At the tender age of 17, Ms. Julia Frakes has captured the hearts of the fashion world with her quirky sense or style and her irresistible charm and wit. Already spawning a legion of copycats, Frakes' playful sense of style is a breath of fresh air amongst all the black-clad editors. Here she wears a brand new dress from the darlings of New York, Proenza Schouler.

laners008.jpg

Fit for a debutante or even a flamenco dancer, these bow back satin Miu Miu pumps add a decadent flavour to anyone’s ensemble. Maybe a bit sweet, maybe a bit spicy – it’s up to you.

laners009.jpg

Living life in the fast lane and looking good is not easy as it seems, but it only looks this alluring when it's Lapo Elkann and Bianca Brandollini d'Adda (centre and left), one of the world's most stylish couples. Making a glamorous entrance at the Fendi show, Bianca comes well prepared accessorised in Fendi and with her man looking ready to jump on a private plane at a moments notice.

laners010.jpg

The testament of Marni's longevity and versatility can easily be seen in its diverse fan base that ranges from all ages to all body types. The house's signature sack shift silhouette is updated season after season. Spotted here is their shiny PVC sack shift from seasons past but given a touch of 2009 with the help of this season's new multi-stacked bangle trend.

The oversize clutch is reaching new proportions! Seen on various runways, it's become a sleek alternative to the oversized totes and carryalls that flooded previous seasons. Smart, chic and hassle free.

lanec002.jpg

Elle Style Director Kate Lanphear and stylist Keegan Singh both exude that New York cool that every enviable man and woman would die to look like. Almost like rock stars, their look is always a mix between a worn in leather jacket, skinny jeans, something studded and that signature coif that thousands try to imitate.

lanec003.jpg

There's no escaping the flashbulbs for a model during fashion week. At every corner you turn whether it's on the runway, backstage or even outside the venue, there will always be flashing lights. It's all just part of the glamorous world of being a model.

lanec004.jpg

Tired of wearing head-to-toe black, French TV personality Alexandra Golovanoff opts for a coral tailored suit that only makes us yearn for a new wardrobe and the days of summer dressing. Recession? What Recession?

lanec005.jpg

Placing host to some of the biggest fashion shows, the Jardin Tuileries is considered the unofficial runway for all the fashion week attendees during Paris fashion week. Each season, fashion editors, buyers, stylists and models stomp along the sandy terrains in their stilettos, through the trenches of photographers to be knowingly photographed. It is here that some of the best outfits and most incredible footwear will be spotted. It's people watching at its best, almost like watching gazelles in their natural habitat.

Azzedine Alaïa's masterful laser cutting lends itself from his clothes to his fetish cut-out sandals, to give any wearer the strength and confidence to stride in his sexy shoes from am to pm.

lanec007.jpg

One of the rare Kodak moments that can only be captured during fashion month, an assistant hard at work in between shows while still looking flawless and chic.

lanec008.jpg

Wearing high heels can take its toll on the average fashion week attendee. Rather than succumb to the inexcusable idea of comfort over fashion, sometimes you just need to give your feet break. Looking fabulous isn't easy.

lanec009.jpg

Having fun with her accessories, stylist Caroline Sieber shows her hometown, London, some love with her limited edition union jack Chanel handbag.

lanec010.jpg

Cloaked in her mother's vintage brocade Balenciaga cape, Lane Crawford fashion director Sarah Rutson is ready for action in the trenches of fashion week.

If there's one designer who defines the new generation, it's undeniably Alexander Wang. His highly coveted handbags and clothes have girls across the globe scrambling to get their hands on a piece of Wang. It can all be attributed to his cool, casual, effortless aesthetic towards dressing. For Spring 2009, he introduces his first collection of footwear and his 'Alexis' fringe boots have foot fetishists worldwide waiting in anticipation for their arrival.

lanny002.jpg

It wasn't just heels reaching new heights this season, even on and off the runway boots went over-the-knee to thigh grazing heights. A perfect time to channel Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

lanny003.jpg

Paying homage to Chanel, Paris Voguette Julia Von Boehm pairs her Chanel handbag with a chain trimmed tweed vest from Marc Jacobs' resort collection.

lanny004.jpg

Season after season, you begin to notice that all the models seem to have a certain off duty uniform that includes: latest designer handbag, a pair of ripped denim shorts, leggings, rayban sunglasses and most importantly a Rick Owens leather jacket. A favourite amongst models, the Rick Owens leather jacket has never gone out of style and it can easily be worn with jeans and t-shirt or even over a cocktail. The washed leather and tight knit underarms are just a few of the classic attributes we've all come to love about Rick Owens.

lanny005.jpg

The Yves Saint Laurent 'Tribs' still reigned supreme this season and who could argue with a four inch heel as slick and towering as this one. For those brave enough to slip into the 'Tribs', I salute you.

lanny006.jpg

When in doubt, you can always rely on designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Louboutin to deliver instant classics. Here senior style editor Jessica Diehl of Vanity Fair opts for a sleek Yves Saint Laurent grey wool coat and a pair of patent Christian Louboutins. Minimalism never looked so good!

lanny007.jpg

Multiple outfit changes is nothing new for Vogue Nippon's Anna Dello Russo but when she changed from a basic pair of black pumps to pair a of shocking pink Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps for the later afternoon, everyone took notice. The new shocking pink 'Hyper Prive' peep-toe pumps can instantly make your ensemble go from drab to fab

lanny008.jpg

Though it's rumoured Martin Margiela may no longer hold the helm at the Maison, it seems whatever the house of Margiela puts out on the runway, will heavily influence the fashion world and will immediately be copied by every mass retailer. It was refreshing to still see his ripped jeans out in full force despite the dozens of copycats. It just only validates his influence.

lanny009.jpg

As Nicholas Ghesquiere's right hand woman, Marie Amelie Sauve plays an integral role as the stylist/muse for the house of Balenciaga. When she's not behind the scenes, you'll find her attending fashion shows in nothing but Balenciaga head-to-toe. Whether it's her obscure shoes or radical handbag, if you haven't seen it before, it's bound to be Balenciaga. She is the envy of all the fashion elite.

lanny010.jpg

Not one to shy away from an opportunity to dress up, stylist Mary Alice Stephenson knows a thing or two about glamour dressing. Even in these times of recession, Mary Alice doesn't let that get in the way of her having fun with fashion. From the necklace to the fur lined coat, you can easily tell she lives for fashion.
