Hi all!

I wanted to ask your views on the people who are going to be the next leaders in fashion? Models, designers...or even trends?

Any feedback is welcome!

Thanks!

I think Britian is starting to lead the fashion packs. Models like Agyness Deyn and designers like Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh and Henry Holland are kinda taking over the scene i think (and hope)

I really think Britain is taking over :)

Thanks!

I had that in mind too, although I want to punch Agyness in the face :)

I also believe that Russia is the most upcoming market...or does anyone disagree?

i completely agree about Russia...
we haven't seen as much talent coming out of Russia into the mainstream (designer-wise. certainly there are hordes of Russian models ;)). That is not to say it doesn't exist, i believe that this industry has become harder and harder to break into, and much more expensive.

The Russians tend to focus more on foreign (namely: American and European) designers and couturiers.

moved to trendspotting since it is a general question and not specifically related to designers and collections...

:flower:

slavic, swedish and icelandic talent are indefinitely be the freshest to come about.

but i also think antwerp, berlin, london, tokyo, paris, copenhagen and vienna will continue to churn out amazing talent as well.

also watch out for italy....particularly those that will come from florence and the polimoda school as former antwerp fashion department director linda loppa, responsible for the constant innovation coming from belgium since the early 80's,will set a new precedence in italian fashion being the new director there. no longer will fashion be only high luxury but will have a particular eye on a dynamical creativity.

I'm not going to give a definite answer. Reason is because you never know who will pull off the next best thing that people will want to wear. It can be from anyone from any place. I think a person who ends up making the next fashion trend or being the next trendsetter will have to have the following:

* come up with a great outfit
* wear it amazingly
* show that this look can be amazing for anyone of any figure

So with this said, I'm thinking of someone from the usual suspects: America, England, (especially) Paris, (especially) Italy, maybe even Japan as well. I am always fascinated about Japan, but I fear anyone from there could bring about the next best thing that people the world over will awe over. I'm not counting the Harajuku Lovers deal that Gwen Stefani brought about as far as Japanese style, but a Japanese designer trying to come up with something amazing than any fashion American or European. I'm sorry... I can only really think of the United Kingdom, France, and Italy as coming up with perhaps the next best looks for women and/or men. I'm thinking about this as far as most fashionable looks in the world, not just my native America.

So I'd have to go with styles and stylists from the three countries I've mentioned. That is, unless someone else comes from out of the blue from a different nation that comes up with amazing style. This, even though I've recently became a fan of the Domincan Republic's Oscar de la Renta.

Balmain and Givenchy are fashion's next darlings. Balenciaga and Chloe are now has-beens.

God-willing Pugh et al will never being fashion's darling. As far as models, i have no idea. as far as fashion weeks I have no idea. However, Kate and Paris Fashion Week are classics and never go out of style.
