Fay S/S 2014 Milan

Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi gave Seventies athleticwear a luxe spin for Fay’s spring collection. They worked in a bright rainbow palette to produce graphic hooded jackets, flippy skirts and silk sweatshirts with an upbeat vibe.

Body-conscious dresses came in collages of mesh, patent leather and a Neoprenelike duchesse satin finished with oversize zippers that sometimes produced unwelcome bulk in back. Not so with the A-line shifts with loose belts in contrasting hues — all charmers.

Scattered throughout were images of Snoopy, in sequined and printed variations. Aside from the fact that Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has mined this territory in the past, the cartoon references seemed out of kilter with the positioning of this Tod’s Group brand.
