What's happening with Fendi bothers me a lot more than Virginie's mess at Chanel.
Completely agree, because Chanel is a couture house that already had such a strong fashion heritage that only needs a designer to refresh it and inject modernity into the house codes. That's what Karl and everyone that come after need to do.
With Fendi, it's different because before Karl there were no fashion elements in the house, only fur and leather. Karl has to build an identity for the house from the ground up.
And for a house that has such a rich history and innovation in fur and funny fur to keep avoiding fur in their recent collections is painful to see. If any house can do desirable fake fur it's Fendi, Karl has already done it, and with the techniques and skills of the atelier, the limit is in the imagination of the designer which in this case is quite limited.
I better not see this mediocrity at the Karl MET exhibition, wishful thinking I know, I'm ready to be disappointed.
