Fendi F/W 2023.24 Milan

What's happening with Fendi bothers me a lot more than Virginie's mess at Chanel.

Completely agree, because Chanel is a couture house that already had such a strong fashion heritage that only needs a designer to refresh it and inject modernity into the house codes. That's what Karl and everyone that come after need to do.
With Fendi, it's different because before Karl there were no fashion elements in the house, only fur and leather. Karl has to build an identity for the house from the ground up.
And for a house that has such a rich history and innovation in fur and funny fur to keep avoiding fur in their recent collections is painful to see. If any house can do desirable fake fur it's Fendi, Karl has already done it, and with the techniques and skills of the atelier, the limit is in the imagination of the designer which in this case is quite limited.

I better not see this mediocrity at the Karl MET exhibition, wishful thinking I know, I'm ready to be disappointed.

The clothes look well made, material look luxe, bags and shoes are great, production is also sleek, but the one thing so glaringly lacking is with the design.

As mentioned above, so many unnecessary details that seem just to be there for the sake of being there, these details are neither functional nor good looking; be it that belt on the front, the vest with sleeves to hide the arms, the trouser in skirt or the cape behind that dress??? Like, what are you thinking churning designs like that for a top tier major brand???

The colours are also dull, the orangey and pink shades are all just undesirable, and who style these colours together???

I seriously hope Kim Jones get the boot soon, but if cronyism is practised in LVMH (not surprisingly) then what can we say? I just can’t imagine how Silvia feels about all of these..

I just finished reading the new Lagerfeld biography tonight and judging by Anna's comments in it (which were actually pretty touching), I kind of think she'll do right by him. I hope.

Best comments ever!! I couldnt stop laughing
Yes... Its getting worst and worst
What really surprise me is that he has friends in the fashion world... But does any of his friends wear him? Like kate moss for example...
The grey pants and light blue sweater is like any mom from the 90s...i really couldnt believe that he said (in the vogue runway review) "its easy but complex" and then the gray pants with an awful knitted piece
Something is sooo off with fashion nowadays... Every thing looks overproduced... Or completely tasteless... With few exceptions of course
Hes notorious for buying “friends” with taking them on luxe trips with corporate money… noone wears that sh**.

It's nice, but it's trying very hard to be 'raw' and 'industrial'. Strange direction for a brand like Fendi.
