Fendi S/S 2006 Milan

I quite like this....although it's more Chanel then Fendi!

Yes, the material is Chanel but the cut - is much more comfortable and minimalistic looking (at the top), which feels more Fendi. There are a few dresses that have a color scheme I would not have expected from someone as great as Mr Lagerfeld, but those seemed to be liked at style.com. So apparently it's in vogue. Ugh.

overall this collection clearly references pilati's debut at yves saint laurent: looks like lagerfeld's new fendi contract has got him a bit competitive, again.
i was waiting for someone to get that...

so true...
the current ysl collection has been flying out of the stores...
so everyone will be wanting to jump on that bandwagon...

^ Hmm, perhaps. I can see it in some of the stiff, high-waisted skirts that opened the show and in the huge belt, of course. But overall, this show is much lighter, softer, and more colorful than Pilati's YSL debut. That YSL show was a little too 'hard' and '80s, but this is sweeter and more feminine. In a season of clunkers, Fendi is definitely one of the Milan standouts for me.

i don't think it's specifically the first pilati show...
but the overall aesthetic that pilati has mined from the ysl archives...
the ruffles...the belt of course, (the defined waist in general)...the shape of the skirt...the shoulder...
the overall silhouette...

and i agree that it's softer...
but everything is softer this season...
i bet pilati at ysl will be softer as well...

i hate this collection, not because it is not good but because lagerfeld has done this before for fendi, i had a magazine at home where he did an all white collection which was veeerrrryyy similar to this one, also that print that he used for the floral logo dress is too mrteminiscent of a past collection they did.......

i am going to search for the pictures and post them. (FW 2001) From a company with somuch resources and a designer of his caliber this is not cool.

he is a very talented designer and i hold him to high standards and this just fall waaayyy below those standards.

this shape of skirt was done much better at proenza shouler ...where there were wide waists that did not look bulky yet soft and femminine. largerfield has let this 47kg model look like she weighs about 65+ not a good ratio to what normal people will look like they weigh!

It's much better than previous Fendi collections, I'll admit that, but I still don't like it.

I think it's a very fine collection, not to mention a relief after the horror that was last season. I agree that some elements strongly recall Pilati at YSL (particularly the belts, which I'm not overly fond of), but I also think it looks quintessentially Lagerfeld - hyperfeminine yet hard.

the white dress on Hana is about the only thing I like. Those prints are terrible and I know they're the accessory du jour of this season but them belts are something hideous..

I don't like it so far but there are some nice dresses, I have to admit.
