Fifty Shades of Grey

I don´t know how could Hollywood make a releasable movie with all the explicit sex these books have. Because in Hollywood male nudity is still a no-no, and direct sex scenes also.
These books are not BIG literature, but they have their appeal, they´re cheeky and raunchy. But if you substract or dilute the sex (like Hollywood always does) it will be a absolute huge garbage.Or three.
This books would be perfect for european or indie directors.
I don´t like Ian for Grey, but he seems to be a firm candidate. The perfect Grey would be Alexander Skarsgard, but he´s way too old for the role. Also Gosling.
Some european guy also...Gaspard Ulliel? He spreaks perfect english and he has the devilish grin for the role...

^I hope that they´ll be smart enough to make the movie around Grey´s issues, around his pov instead of Ana´s... I think that that way they could make an interesting movie without explicit sex scenes. But they still could have somewhat explicit sex (for HW standars) like in the movie Shame, btw Michael Fassbender would make an excellent Grey, too bad he´s not the right age.

Why, exactly? She has even less of a personality than Bella from Twilight.

That's why they need someone who can give the character some kind life or believability. Im suggesting ways they can make this movie somewhat watchable. It doesn't take much thought to suggest filmmakers who will just turn it into the p*rn version of twilight (which is exactly what the books are).

The reason I think Ian Somerholder would work is that he's able to play creepy, mischievous, and also be likable. I'm basing this on the his role as Boone in Lost and a couple of other roles.

Fassbender has already played someone with a strange addiction to sex. Plus, he's too old. The character is in his 20s. I know they get older actors to play younger all the time, but I don't think he would work.

^ Haha, I see. You're way more optimistic than I am.
Agree about Fassbender. He would bring way too much depth to the role anyway.

I was reading through Bret Easton-Ellis's tweets (procrastination) and he REALLY wanted to do this film but was taken off the list of potentials. It's a shame because he was really into the story and Ian Somerhalder said that he'd love to work with him.

I am currently reading the first book, by far I like it , as u all said it is not a demaning literature, but I would say it is fresh partially.

First off. I barely got through the first book-- the writing was awful. I didn't even bother with the rest of the books.

Secondly, this would be much better as an HBO series where they could push the envelope week to week. A movie would just come across like weak p*rn. Also it will be a very awkward movie to watch in theaters. I'd rather see it on DVR in the privacy of home -- if at all.

Ditto.

It's Official! Dakota Johnson Will Be Anastasia Steele In 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'

It feels like we've been speculating about who will play Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey for YEARS. One minute it's Emma Watson, then it's Cara Delevingne, then it's Emilia Clarke. But today the rumour mill will stop spinning as it has been announced that Dakota Johnson has landed the steamy part.

Universal Pictures has announced Dakota, who has been in The Social Network and 21 Jump Street, will star in the film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. E.L James is happy with the casting as she tweeted: 'I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.' But there has been no word on who will play Mr Christian Grey. If you're reading the powers at be Universal, we'd like the Gosling.

Not familiar with Dakota's previous work? Let us introduce you. Dakota has acting in her blood as she is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. She starred in The Social Network, Five Year Engagement and 21 Jump Street. She got good training for the role of Anastasia in The Social Network, as she frolicked in her pants with Justin Timberlake. She also has a model past as she appeared in Teen Vogue when she was just 12 years old, signed with IMG models in 2006 and has modelled for MANGO.

^I´m so glad! He deserves some role that will give him exposure, he´s so underated imo but I think he´s talented :)
I don´t have an opinion about Dakota though...

^me neither but I think he can pull it off, he has that alpha male thing going on. They´ll probably die his hair and make him wear contacts...

It's not like anyone saw that coming but if he shaves off his beard and cuts his hair a bit he'll make a great Christian.
He's still a better choice than Alex Pettyfer. Movies like that should attract older women and not underaged girls.

Charlie Hunnam is the ONLY thing on this planet that could entice me to watch this film. He oozes sexuality and is a real alpha male. I might wait for it to come out on DVD and watch it on mute.

I have no problems with Charlie although I think Ian would be perfect for the role. As for Dakota... she's okay. I hope she will dye her hair to brown though since the heroine in book is a brunette and the author always emphasise on it

^I think she will because her hair color in a way it´s central to the story.
