Fire Glenda Bailey - Suggestions

I would wonder at the outcome of Carine working within the constraints of an American magazine.

Speaking generally, sometimes restrictions spur people into finding ever more creative ways of expressing their vision... while others prefer to settle down and work within the lines... and some don't suit that world at all.

I think it's unlikely Glenda will get the boot before the October issue comes out. I don't think Hearst will want anything to undermine the biggest issue of the year by making a move that signals a lack of confidence in the magazine. Once September is off newstands however, I hope they finally get rid of Glenda, which would give the new editor plenty of time for an official relaunch around the time of Next year's March issue.

i have actually been thinking that bazaar looks pretty good lately...
how odd...

:p

Wouldn't it be cool if Alex White went to Bazaar?

^^Omgosh, Alex White ANYWHERE would be beyond amazing, I  her big time.

Great suggestion in theory but there's a very limited pool of top photographers that can work at Bazaar though because of Conde Nast contracts and loyalty to Anna and US Vogue. IDT that would work well with Alex (and definitely not Carine).

ATM I think that the only top photographers who would work for Bazaar would be Terry, Sorrenti and Roversi.

Brana Wolf would be the best replacement. She deserves some shine after all these years of having to produce mediocre content under Glenda.

If Carine or Alex would go to Bazaar, I wouldn't rule out I&V working for Bazaar again.

at least no more britney spears covers then!

Really? That's your biggest beef with the magazine?

I may be less than impartial here because I'm a huge fan, but Britney is one of the more interesting and better covers they've had in recent years. She's a legend who has actually achieved a lot on her own, unlike some of these other cover girls (take your Kardashians, Blake Livelys, etc). She's not overexposed in terms of fashion covers (like say Jennifer Aniston or Gaga). And she's actually got an interesting (tragic at times) back story unlike 99% of the celebrities giving interviews every other month to HB, Vogue, Elle, etc. So yeah, while I agree that HB has been bad, Britney's cover or choice for a cover is actually one of the rare bright spots in its recent history.

Carine as EIC would be a lovely change for Harper's, though I question whether she would return to intensive magazine work so promptly after leaving Vogue Paris.

i've always thought that Katie Grand would be a marvelous candidate to shake things up at HB. she has a such a rich understanding and appreciation of fashion, as well as for art & commerce. plus she has a great artistic and graphic eye. oh and she has the most wonderfully cheeky and irreverant personal style to boot!

^She did work for HB, but I think she is more than happy at Conde Nast.

Carine lives mostly in New York now, doesn't she? Perhaps her book coming out this fall will spin out consideration and talk of her taking over Bazaar, or at least someone other than Glenda. Glenda can take the Rita Wilson and Ashton Kutcher-penned articles with her.

If Bazaar's sales keep dropping like the way it has been for quite some time- Hearst will have no choice but to find someone else or at least Pump some creativity into Glenda- cos the woman doesnt seem like she knows what shes doing anymore.

I'll take this Glenda woman job. Problem solved. Thankyou call for coming. :innocent:

how long she's been in Bazaar?well compared to another edition of HB worldwide, HB US has the worst cover IMO. Boring, disastrous with those horrible massive font. Even the HB from the southeast Asia has the better cover

there were numerous copy editor mistakes in the new march issue of harper's bazaar.

in the lara stone editorial where she dressed as margaret thatcher, many accessories werent even credited at all.

also ashton kutcher was allowed to promote his investments in his column in this issue. why was he allowed to do this?
