^well at least it's not the over-used tous le garcons et les fille,this time. and i suppose in spite of francoise's dislike of her early stuff,it suits the period of the film.

^ yes, I love when movies use other songs than 'Tous les garcons' (eg: Lost Highway)!

I know Françoise says that her earlier music wasn't her best, but keep in mind she's also a very harsh self-critic... I think it's a trait that comes from her grandmother, who used to nitpick at her every imperfection!

I saw a TV documentary where she said, looking back, her early music was simple and didn't have much depth, wasn't as intellectual as France Gall's... something along those words... but hey, France Gall had loads of famous songwriters to back her up right when she started, whereas Françoise used to pen most of her own songs!

I also bought her photobook by Jean-Marie Périer... (forgot if I already said it in this thread) but most photos are with comments of the author (her ex-boyfriend) and herself. Even on some of her coolest photos, she says she looked terrible! Ah la la!

oh don't get me wrong i absolutely adore that song to bits.....it's just in every single film i see.....there's a lot of a stuff from that period that i feel is under-utilised. oh oh cheri

i've heard that about françoise though....that she is her harshest critic. i think a lot of people do forget that she did write a lot of her own material even though there was also a healthy dose of cover-material as well. very commendable position to have for that era i think....especially as misogynistic as it was.

Just learned today she's been battling cancer for a while now, I think she was in a coma over the summer (read it in French so I might be wrong). Makes me sad... I know she's at an age when it can be one thing or another but I still hope she makes it through.

This was my first introduction to Perier's charming photography. I was excited to find this online a few years ago.
