Awards Season's It Girl

“Slumdog Millionaire” starlet Freida Pinto has become the “It” girl of the awards season, even though she isn’t an Oscar nominee.

It’s easy to see why the spotlight has sought her out. The former model, who is from Mumbai, is poised, articulate and well versed in fashion.

“It’s not hard to get clothes for her,” said Pinto’s stylist, George Kotsiopoulos. “Some people bent over backwards from the start and some didn’t, but after the Golden Globes (where ‘Slumdog’ won several awards, including Best Motion Picture-Drama), she was on most designers’ lists.”

Producers tapped her as a presenter at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice and Screen Actors Guild awards shows.

“People see how she carries herself and that is what they are excited about as well — a pretty girl who says smart things,” Kotsiopoulos said.

Pinto’s initial favorites included Chanel and Marchesa, but Kotsiopoulos, who is also styling “Slumdog” star Dev Patel, has put Pinto in fashion insider favorites such as Derek Lam, Azzaro, Roland Mouret and Gaultier Couture to set the bar high from the start. He also took her homeland as inspiration, choosing draped and one-shouldered looks and jewelry from Indian designers such as Amrapali.

I agree with you guys about wanting to see her on the cover of a fashion mag soon. I was thinking at least Elle India or Vogue India.

Taking care of her day's errands, Freida Pinto was spotted out making a stop at Fred Leighton in New York City on Wednesday (February 4).
After browsing the shops selections, the "Slumdog Millionaire" star then headed to pick up her outfit for the Oscars at Oscar De la Renta offices in Manhattan.
