^such wonderful pictures... I wish we could have hq's to at least be able to read the article.

btw, daphné has white sneakers (with red lips) hahahaha!!!

I am amazed how that blonde woman can look so CHIC in a severly wrinkled shirt snd messy shorts.

How does she do it? If I wore that, I would feel and look like a hobo.

^This isn't specific to French style, but in general, photographs can be misleading. Everyone knows that what looks devastatingly chic in real life often doesn't translate to pictures, but the opposite is just as common. It's a flattering pose, with an accommodating background.

Having said that, the trick is in the details. I'm sure that those wrinkled clothes are clean and dry, her nails are buffed, undereye circles concealed, legs smooth and soft. And most importantly, she probably carries herself gracefully, as if she were wearing something much fancier.

so true... and some help from a vogue professional (meaning stylist, photographer or whosoever... even photoshop) also helps...

I agree this is not specifically french style. However, french style (meaning parisian) for young people is very related to a "I don't care about my aspect so I wear ripped stuff and messy hair, it's just naturally flawless" look although everything is conciously done.

French effortless and them being so chic is sooooo overrated.
Im so bored with it. With everyone Parisian who are pictures in street style pages, they pretty much look all the same.
and not even so effortless or chic.
Just my opinion. I just do not find it fascinating.
Ofcourse there are people who a french and very great dressers but only few.

I feel like everyone look the same everywhere nowadays.

I also feel like we French are just more conservative and less daring (boring?) than some of our western counterparts because of our fear to not fit in.

We have that awful habit of criticizing fashion that's not in our point of view élegant, I'd say we're a bit snubs.

The looks or comments you get in the métro or in the street when you wear something that's seen as a bit eccentric can intimidate the most willing to try something original.

What handbags are most popular in Paris? What do french women spend their money on?

^Gerard Darel, Longchamp, YSL... + American Apparel among young girls...

I think these ones are the most popular bags.

I hardly saw any Longchamp bags when I was in Paris this time.. it seems to be all about the Balenciaga city now.. in black.

A year ago..yes they were everywhere!

But now mainly Bal city in blacks a few Gerard Darel.. I got sick of Balenciaga while there..they made it seem so common. Perhaps is the areas I was in? Marais.. Left Bank..

I think the Lonchamp bag perhaps is more of a summer bag..as I mainly saw leather bags..

Frightfully unoriginal :ninja:

I am always being shown this bag in Barney's & never fail to turn up my nose ... I cannot buy anything that the Olsen twins have been photographed endlessly with, I'm sorry :innocent:

Reminds me when I was lurking around Jak & Jil blog one day when I found a photo of the Teen Vogue Team. Goodness, it was entirely refreshing seeing some pattern, texture and let alone color.

I mean honestly, anyone can sport a black and white wardrobe and look oh-so-chick, but its be nice to see blues, yellows, reds and purples again. A fully black wardrobe seems so ... restricted now. Frankly, it's getting a bit old. Though than again, some people (like Kate Lanphear) can really pull it off with out being all too predictable. I'm just so tired of the black skinnies, black heels and a black AA top style now that seems just to be about everywhere.

In short: Paris street style hasn't really been inspiring me all to much lately

Well, I have had mine for almost 4 years now so I regard it as quite a classic no matter who is carrying it, I just really love the style and they used to have this relly amazing leather...

But everytime I see them at the boutiques.. with the new leather..I'm not even tempted..:innocent:

Also i don't think anyone can pull off black and look chic, many will just look dull..
I will always love black, no matter what the fashion dictates.

^^Interesting! So mostly the city size huh? No other popular colors or styles of Balenciaga? A friend told me something similar: that French women will go with dark classic colors, they'd never purchase say a bright apple green balenciaga.

I don't get the appeal of longchamp: they seem so dull to me, worse than coach. Like kenneth cole or something? Maybe I'm just not "getting" the look here.

I'm surprised GD is still going strong. I purchased one years ago for a good price. Now they seem WAY too expensive for what they are (say compared to balenciaga leather and craftsmanship. For that $ I'll buy a Balenciaga.

Thanks for the answers so far - I'm handbag obsessed so I love to hear what is popular in other countries.

p.s. What about goyard? Popular or too logo?
