Frida Kahlo non solo nei musei o al cinema, ma anche in passerella. Da sempre il suo stile inconfondibile influenza couturier e designer.

Nella primavera-estate 03, per esempio, è stato Gilles Rosier, il giovane stilista francese che disegna per Kenzo, a renderle omaggio con una collezione ispirata al Messico e ai suoi colori. Ma non è il solo. Anche Giorgio Armani, Trussardi, Moschino, Ferrè hanno presentato gonne baiadera, abiti gipsy, giocati sulle sovrapposizioni, con tocchi maschili movimentati da note calienti.

Nel passato si possono ricordare Fendi, Paola Frani, o la creatrice di gioielli Angela Pintaldi, che si è fatta ritrarre dal grande fotografo messicano Leo Matiz, truccata e abbigliata come lei. È datato poi 1998 il maggiore tributo che le ha reso uno stilista. Quello firmato Jean Paul Gaultier.

I was in London a few weeks ago and went to the Frida Kahlo photography display. If anyone is out there, you should check it out. It's great! I think they said that her father was a professional photographer, which accounts for the photo documentation of her as a child. She also had photos taken of her by friends and lovers. I admire her for her strength and her utter uniqueness.
