Get Knock Off Purses

I think it is both arrogant and insulting to trash someone for buying a knock off purse. To me people who put themselves into debt or struggle to save up for a designer item are the ones who should be criticized. There are far more important things in life than a handbag. If someone likes a particular style of handbag they shouldn't be prevented from enjoying the fashion simply because they don't have tons of disposable income. Personally, I am hoping to find a knock off of the new Chloe bag. If I find one I will definitely buy it because I refuse to spend so much over $1,000 on what is basically a simple bag with fake jewels.
Ill keep an eye out for a chloe bag for ya ;) lol

Hm, I bought a fake bag once... but only for the canvas, I needed it for my arts project which I'm workin' on... So, am I bad person

I'm only speaking from experiences I have had with people at school, but I have noticed that most carry a fake as a status symbol. No one ever mentions that they are knock-offs, even though they clearly are. They feel elite because they are carrying an LV, regardless if it's real.

There in lies the problem I have with fakes. The status and the satisfaction of carrying an LV, Chanel, Prada, ect... should be reserved for those whom are either lucky enough to have means of purchasing one, or for those who have whole heartedly saved up their earnings for that special bag.

If you cannot purchase, nor save up for one, I suggest that you buy an original purse, by a different designer. If it's a beautiful purse, you'll get my compliment regardless how much I think you spent on it. On the other hand, it is highly unlikely that I will compliment you on your fake purse.

Loads of people just see a bag and like it, they dont know its actually a rip-off of a designer one.
I agree. Some people are not aware that its copying the style of well known designer bag and they buy it because they like it. Thats why i dont mind knock off purses....by i dont like seeing knock off purses when people on ebay are trying to rip off customers who cant tell the difference between whats authentic and fake. Very much agreed.

Never.
Counterfeit goods make me weep for a million years!

If you can't afford a purse from a famous luxury brand, forget buying a knock off, buy something from a new or independant designer instead.

It'll be cheaper and you'll be more original and less of a sheep.

I find the big brands a turn off anyway, they are run like banks and run for maximum profit. Where do you think that huge mark-up is going? You don't honestly think those bags cost that much to make do you? I know that they don't :innocent:

I'd rather give my money to an independant designer than to what is in effect some fat old businessman. Support the new designers and make life more interesting. :woot:

Just wanted to add:

I have friends who have worked as designers for the big brands and the pay isn't great - its all about making as much money for the owners as possible - don't fall for it. I have a friend who was offered a job at Hogan as a designer and the pay was so bad, (£9,000 UK pounds a year), he would have earned more working in a supermarket! I have a friend who worked as a designer for Gianfranco Ferre in Milan and her pay was so bad she could'nt pay her rent and had to leave.

So thats another reason why I find the whole branded bag thing a big turn off.

The other big reason is that as a designer myself I actually find the designs really boring - there are much more interesting bags out there.

Its a bit off-topic - but you could start a new post and ask opinions on your designs! I for one would love to see them, esp if they are bags! :flower:

I don't design bags I design shoes- I just have an opinion, you may or may not agree with - I do like some designer bags - Chloe bracelet bags are gorgeous, for instance - the girl who designed those has now set her own business up so I reckon we should support her.

Zoe Knight

One of my friends designs for Tanner Krolle -they do interesting bags, but they are handmade and very expensive.

I like Jamin Peuch as well - I'll try and think of some others.

I'm just very bored of reading about LVMH's share price and how much money they are making. Then I hear from someone in the trade about how a lot of the production is Spanish and not that great a factory - I'm not sure if this is true or not though, could be rubbish so don't quote me on that.

I can appreciate proper craftsmanship though - for instance an Hermes Kelly Bag, not that I'd ever want one.

Anoither thing I read in the trade press yesterday - did you know that Italy is only second to China and Korea when it comes to the production of fakes?
