^^^ You know Salvatore, the first designer I ever wore was Armani. As a dumb flexing teen desperate to impress a girl
Literally EXACT same case as me. He was my intro. Being an insecure f@g in 6th grade trying to impress a girl talmbout this jacket is Giorgio Armani, no collezioni, not even emporio. She would just laugh. Like HUH ? I was so silly lol. As much as I kinda dread that time in my life, he was a beacon of light for me that I hold close in memory, regardless of the weird disingenuous anti-status status reasons. I remember being so so sooo obsessed one season in like 2007 or so he had all these stingray leather menswear accessories that were so sleek and I could not stop talking about them to anyone that would listen. Which you know, furthermore did not help me beat the allegations.

Armani has never really been my favourite (a touch too conservative and matronly for my tastes), but I always had a lot of admiration for how consistent and genuine it is. He really has a love for what he does and it shows each season.

You are so unhinged and I love you 😂

Although it's heartbreaking his passing, I just came across a reels on Instagram which had a piece of information I didn't know about - Armani brand create a public archive on their website.

I don't know if this is the right thread, but earlier, by mistake, I stumbled upon a Giorgio Armani Made To Measure catalog. Obviously, since it's something custom, it can vary a lot based on fabrics and sizes, but does anyone have an idea of how much a suit costs on average?

I think the timing of the whole Archivio initiative, which is scrupulously presented and far surpasses the typical LVMH heritage blurb, couldn’t have been a coincidence. He must have known the end was near for some time. It’s a beautiful virtual gallery, and just like the Armani Silos in Milan, will prove of lasting importance. It’s Giorgio’s low-key attempt at immortalising himself, which he is of course more entitled than anyone else in the business to do.

Someday a retrospective will be in order. While known for his unstructured suits, he also made multiple innovations in menswear and moved with the times. The big shouldered ‘executive’ look was typically paired with a studious introspection in the vintage ads, forgoing the type of vainglory that tended to plague other luxury houses. Then he pioneered a new sort of uniform with his guru collar, 4-5 button jackets, lapel-less blazers, monochromatic looks…outerwear with large buttons and asymmetric closures, flowing t-shirts in formal ensembles…

Unlike his fellow titan Ralph, Armani did not borrow explicitly from a codified image of inherited wealth to build his brand. He was the Adolf Loos of modern menswear…

I’m so glad he decided that. Leave it to L’Oreal, LVMH, Richemont or at best – the CHANEL/HERMES (yes get rid of the diffusion lines).

L’Oreal looks like the most sensible option as I suspect that the Royalties from Armani beauty represents are essential to the strength of the brand. Armani is very well organized for the activities to stay as they are. Getting rid of the diffusion lines will be essential for the brand. Only Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani and Armani Prive should exist.
Those are tough decisions that could hurt the company finances in the short term but be beneficial in a long term.

I dont know if Bernard Arnault would be interested in that. He could. Owning Armani could make up for the loss of Marc Jacobs. The group has the capacity to handle the beauty business and they have talents.

Giorgio Armani’s Will Tells Heirs to Sell the Brand or Seek IPO

The document says the late designer’s heirs must sell a minority stake within 18 months, with a larger transfer to the same buyer to occur later, and give preference to LVMH, L’Oréal or EssilorLuxottica, according to Reuters. Otherwise, the brand should pursue an IPO.

The will of late fashion designer Giorgio Armani instructs heirs to sell a 15 percent stake in the Italian fashion house within 18 months and later transfer an additional 30 percent to 54.9 percent to the same buyer between three and five years after his death, according to a copy of the will reviewed by Reuters.

In alternative, an initial public offering should be pursued, the will said.

The will also states that priority should be given to luxury giant LVMH beauty heavyweight L’Oréal, eyewear leader EssilorLuxottica or other groups.

Heirs should consider other fashion and luxury companies with which Armani’s company has commercial ties for a future sale.

Armani was the sole major shareholder of the company he set up with his late partner Sergio Galeotti in the 1970s and over which he maintained a tight rein — both creative and managerial — until the very end.

He has left behind no children to inherit the business, which generated relatively stable revenue of €2.3 billion ($2.7 billion) in 2024, but whose profits have shrunk amid a broad industry recession.
