Any of you guys ever borrowed a trench coat from a girl and it fits you great????

I saw a guy who was wearing a nice trench and I asked him where did he get that and he said from a girl.. and he didn't know what label it was...

So.. now I am on the hunt.. any good suggestions???

thats not a bad idea, but the only problem is that the buttons button the opposite way, so its going to be apparent that its a womens coat, but if you dont care about that go for it. jil sander makes great trench coats for women

Hah! This happened to me at H&M. I was in the men's section and I picked up this coat that was lying there, I guess it was a black peacoat with large metallic buttons. I thought it looked great on me, I was going to buy it, had I the money. I later learned that women's clothes have numbers, so no.

i have to say, i've tried. being small women's clothes can fit me no problem, but here's the problem:

womens clothes aren't cut straight in the bodice area like men's are. they are fitted in the torso and they flare out awkwardly at the bottom.

now, sometimes it works perfectly! i've never had luck with women's clothes.

AudiEC, you're letting a number keep you from buying a coat that looks good on you?

^ that's my reasoning most of the time. i'm a student, am i to have money?:innocent:

 Not talking about the price here. Read his last post again. Or maybe that was a joke. I can't tell.

^ thanks. i wouldn't give a rats a if it looked great on me.:innocent:

I have a pea coat that I bought in a womens section. It fits great, has a much more interesting cut and looks great on me. Im 5"11, 155lbs. You'd have to be very insecure to let a label stop you from wearing something that looks good.

I even get complimented on it by all my girl / friends who love the fit on me. I wouldnt go so far as wearing womens pants like some guys are into, but for jackets, I dont think they make interesting enough jackets for men so if I find a well fitting womens coat, im always going to give it a shot.

I have a couple of shirts that are cut for women, and I didn't even notice at the time I got them. Someone pointed out the waist was cinched a bit and the buttons were on the wrong side. I don't care, they look cool.

Well.. the button can be taken off and put on a different side, no?

I mean some jacket are zippered.. so that should be ok too...

I find that a lot of times because we are guys.. we can buy big sizes in women's jacket.. at steep discount.. which is even more of a bargain for me... And give me that slim cut that I am start to see DH start to loose:(

Thats what I like about it, so that it does has a slight waistline.. which you don't see in a man's cut... the key is to find jacket that does not flare out at the bottom, no?

Thats why i am asking which brand you guys have bought that are good fit on guys

I like certain womens jackets because most mens jackets arent cut interestingly, and produce boring sihlouettes. I like the flare from my pea coat, gives me a neo-victorian/edwardian look when I match it with the right shirt.

do people really notice what side the buttons are on.. wouldn't they notice the coat first...?

is it a guy thing to notice..? i never quite understood the importance of the button thing other than it being a cute tradition..

i've more than once though about wearing some of mom's sweaters and overcoats... i think i have actually, im not sure... but sometimes its really obvious

I 2nd u! I just hate why there're so little shops tht sell affordable nice-cut jackets for homme. I esp. like victorian stuff.

But like Pastry said, some flares at the bottom at a weird angle for men, so...

Actually, not many ppl(esp. men^_^ ) could recognise the difference in direction of the buttoning goes.

I think the trench coat I have is a woman's. But I've noticed that with this trench coat, it can be buttoned either way so it's not noticeable. I like the cut of it. I don't like box shaped clothes. :flower:

what about nicolas andreas taralis? i know a lot of guys who wear his pieces,
