i think that the celebs mentioned and shown here are doing more damage to their reputations for wearing/being associated with this.
_____
Girls Gone Wild Pushes Clothes
"Girls Gone Wild" is synonymous with women wearing, well, nothing. So the launch of its apparel lines — with the motto, "when clothing isn't optional" — is a bit ironic.
"Girls Gone Wild" founder and famed lothario Joe Francis projects that GGW Apparel, the clothing division of his 10-year-old brainchild, in the next two years will be a $40 million to $60 million wholesale business, or about half of what is now a $100 million empire.
"There's a little 'Girls Gone Wild' in every girl," said Francis, who, at age 23, founded the company known for its videos of drunken, scantily clad women. Then he adds, without any irony, "That's what I want to bring out, but without being cheesy."
There are Angel and Beach sportswear lines, with separates and dresses; swimwear designed by Ashley Page called Ashley Page for Girls Gone Wild, and an intimates collection. While short hemlines, frisky panties and itsy-bitsy bikinis are to be expected, Francis described the overall lines, for which the wholesale price points range from $5 for underwear to $74 for a hoodie, as fun yet tasteful.
"The direction of the line is important to me," Francis said. "It's not what you'd expect. There is a lot that is more subtly branded Girls Gone Wild product. Whether you want a little Girls Gone Wild in the logo on your underwear or a little Girls Gone Wild logo on your sweatpants, you can find that in this line."
Expect to see Girls Gone Wild apparel incorporated into the company's commercials. Not surprisingly, "Girls Gone Wild" has already caught former Francis paramour Lindsay Lohan on camera wearing its products. Another real-life "girl gone wild," Paris Hilton friend Kimberly Stewart, will be one of the line's first celebrity guest designers.
