Jamiroquai to Launch Fashion Line
Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay is set to inflict his own strange sense of fashion on to an unsuspecting world.

The 35-year-old singer is launching a range of wild and wacky clothes - including those trademark hats we all know and love.

Jay is often referred to as "the cat in the hat" because of his strange choice of headwear and hopes his trendy Quai label will hit the shops before the year is out.

He is also a lover of retro and vintage clothing and it is believed that will be apparent in his designs.

A source said: "He'll start off with a small range of clothes at a few department stores across the country."

The pal added Jay, ever mindful of his fans' pockets, will peg back prices as much as possible to make his clothing affordable.

This 'celebrity-starts-fashion-line' trend is really quite horrendous, shouldn't there be a law against it? Fashion police?!

Honestly I adore Jay-kay and his music, but really I hope this doesn't catch on. Last thing we need is more copy cats.

:woot: jamiroquai hmm i admit adoring his funky style, he may be actually quite good in this..

thanks for bringing this in choisir :flower:

Agreed. Finally someone decent who starts a fashion line, perhaps it can change our views.

In my opinion he is. He's indeed funky, hip, not pretentious.

see...for me...someone like Beck fits that mould...plus he has the music to go along with it ;)

i absolutely adore his music and i think his clothing line will at least be...refreshing?

beck is also uber cool jhaime, just different kind of sound and not too 'style' as in 'fashion' orientated ;)

isn't everything fashion...and what style are we talking...

Beck pulls off suits, too ripped jeans and cowboy hats...and well his shades are kind of impressive..

I'd say the guy has more style in his pinkey than jay kay...(or whatever you call him)

and someone said he's not pretentious...is it just me? or did he not lend his mate one of his lamborghinis, who then went on to right it off...and he did the same to his own...

hmm...

lets not get off topic with Beck now ;)
its not a Jamiroquai against Beck kind of 'contest' my dearest jhaime :flower:

lol..sorry..

go team beck...

i just found it a bit strange that someone doesn't see Beck as fashion orientated...I don't think he or his stylist would find that happy reading...

ye, anyway...j-kay with a label...are we going to see a collaboration with Bono...;)

OT and the LAST of it ..for jhaime:
i think you got me wrong, Beck rules his style is more 'raw' and 'fresh' and less 'fashion' hope i make some sense (i know sometimes i just dont) :D

I think we have another American vs European perspective here ;). Jay-Kay is still considered very okay here, music for the fashion and art scene so to speak (and beyond of course). Beck too but he isn't as popular. I'm relieved to finally hear somebody I trust to have style and good ideas to launch a brand (bound to know the right people too) instead of another Lindsay Lohan/Olson Twins kind of celeb. I somehow trust English celebrities to do these things better and more thought of, although Gwen did a great job.
