i am a die hard bal afficianado and i ADORE my BLACK patent distressed maxi 'gale. i have tons of bals in bright colors and love the drama of this bag in dark colors. the bag's details speak for themselves. very understated, yet dramatic and people stop me constantly to ask about it. ( i have had mine since way before the latest crop of nicole wanna-bes discovered it). i also think i will end up with another one in another color, probably brown . the original 'gale has a sinister s and m vibe with its zippered shoulder strap that makes it totally rock.B) i am really happy with mine. can you tell?

is the strap longer also? it almost looks like a messenger.

just me, they had a gorgeous gorgeous bright blue patent but I was too late

I love the leather & the size but I'm still undecided on keeping it because the metal makes the top bits kind of hang down. Maybe it would be OK full of things I haven't tried that yet. Still have time to decide if it's a keeper... it's a beautiful bag.. really lovely smoochy leather!

Ladies who have the original black Maxi nightingale w/ the thicker (zipper-enclosed) strap....is this the bag (but with ostrich handles)? Is this the original version toted by Ashley Olsen & the Traina sisters? How come the leather in the photo seems softer/more distressed?

^that has the leather of the new bags with the handle of the old. (although, really, that does not look like the ostrich foot handle, it just looks like it has some kind of metalic treatment). To clarify, the Trainas have the ostrich handle, and ashley olsen does not, but they both have the original leather.

the ostrich texture is very faint irl...
they had this bag at barneys when i went, and you could hardly tell it was ostrich...it just looks metallic...

The little leather piece on the zipper of my Nightingale came off today. Does anyone know how I can fix it or where I can go to get it fixed? I spent half an hour trying to reattach but it just wouldn't stick. I'm in New York.. do you think if I go to Barneys they'd be able to fix it?

the lining thing is a very confusing subject.
most of the current season bags still do have the calico lining.
ex tfs member brian & i are working on a blog for nightingales & givenchy bags (similar to what ateliernaff had for balenciaga).

yeah! i would say that it does...
barneys finally has that new a/w 07 campaign bag. they're calling it the "overnight". it's 19x13" and $1750 with the chain handle. the one with the rolled handle is either going to be less, or more (i'm thinking more--1795?)
