But i'm soooo SAD to think that i got a non-smooshy one
I had to get someone to pick it up for me, otherwise i would have been very picky about the leather. I love the style and i love the lizard handles (i do get compliments) but the leather has not gotten softer after 7 months of use. Anyone here own or seen IRL a lizard gale with smooshy leather?? I wonder if the lizard came w diff leather... or if i should try to track another one down. grrrrrrr

ok, let me give it a try..... i originally had a plain black calf maxi with a light gray interior. the leather was NOT smooshy. ( i did not love the leather, but loved the style!) i sold it and got a distressed black patent maxi. fabulous. it gets smooshy with age, it does not look worn out, people still comment on it. the next batch of plain leather ones , a season after mine, were distressed leather, smooshy when new! my ostrich handle black maxi has the smooshy, distressed leather and a black interior. so, you are not crazy.... B) btw, not to confuse you, but this season's patent leather is crappy compared to my last year's black patent leather. it reminds me of '06 bal leather , the crispy, thin, yechy kind they had for one season only. i wanted to buy one, and just couldnt justify the price for the lack of quality. that is how i ended up with yet, ANOTHER black maxi 'gale.

good question! not sure... ale posted a stock pix from barneys website on this thread of the one i just got, he said there were 6, now none! based on the price, it was last year. i am told new smooshy maxi distressed leather sans exotic handles will be $2495 this season, but i havent seen any yet IRL.
barneys told me mine just came back from a photoshoot.it had not been available for months.
you can sell yours and get a new distressed black one if the new ones look good.

the only bad thing about trying to resell givenchy bags (in general), is that they do not hold up their value at all. especially with the fakes of the nightinale being identical quality to the real ones, people won't pay so close to retail. the last authentic 'gales i've seen on ebay sold for maybe 800ish. someone actually scored the black metallic leather zipped strap one with metallic grey lizard handle in medium for super cheap a while back...i think $700-800...i was kinda pised. what a deal!

i've seen other giv bags like the riccardo, clarabelle, etc. on ebay too selling for maybe 300 at the most. i was bidding on a riccardo in white leather with black lining a while back that sold for $260....super cheap, i know, but more than i could afford at the time.

a few s/s 08 nightingales are on raffaello. both are medium and $1720.

they also have the new shopper version. i hate it so much. of course they pick the ugliest mutation of this bag and give it the nicest details. what a waste of a suede lining and all those metal zippers!!!!!! WTF!!

that sucks...id rather keep it then sell it for so cheap.....the thing is i gt lots of questions...aboutshipping and this and that...then no onw bids or buys....wasting my time!!! Ilove my black but im trying to have more room..with the baby and all...i figured i can get rid of the black..but if it doesnt sell..ill use it again eventually
