Goldfrapp

hmmm...i hope it comes over here too eventually... i'd be very interested in checking it out...

thanks scott... :flower:

After "Felt Mountain" and alot of their other orchestral/ambient tracks, people were asking Alison,if she would ever be interested in doing something like this. She said no at the time exclaiming that she'd be changing her mind all the time. But I'm happy they decided to do this. Its logical too;most of their more obvious influences have been film composers. Biggest being Morricone. Not to mention, this film, from what I read about it seems like such a perfect story for their music.

Soft, you didn't hear anything about this film whilst in London? Apparently, its getting alot of critical acclaim. I hope its here too....I would love to see this. And it sounds like such a contradiction to all the stereotypes of being gay and falling in love. I mean, one of the characters talks of Nietzsche and listens to Edith Piaf(another Goldfrapp influence ;).

i don't remember hearing anything specific scott...i was trying to remember...it sounds vaguely familiar...but i guess it's not mainstream, so there wouldn't be posters everywhere...you know?...and i didn't watch much tv...sorry...

i wonder if sean would know about it...?...

Sounds pleasing. When Air did the score for The Virgin Suicides it went down well, reached a real audience. :P

I've heard it has beautiful cinematography, and once they were willing to give her a reasonable amount of freedom, it wouldn't feel too restrictive in comparison to whatever her normal methods are...

A-HA! I knew there was a catch

Alison is notorious for being a bit of a tough cookie when it comes to her work. She doesn't like to compromise anything. That's good though. Artists(and I say this with all my fibre)like she and Will are, deserve that kind of freedom.

I read that too about the cinematography, btw. Another reason they decided on this...extremely visual that wonderfully electric master is ;)

I do want to see it, but a comparison I read to Heavenly Creatures, a film that is still with me to this day, has me thinking again.

But I'm sure it's just the close relationship of two young women that has them saying that, and not the presence of a violent and surreal current that could cast another spell on my nightmares. :ninja: :innocent:

Goldfrapp finishing new album-details!

In an interview with MOJO magazine, Alison Goldfrapp has revealed how recording sessions for her third album are progressing.

The singer, who won critical acclaim with 2001's "Felt Mountain" and "Black Cherry" in 2003, has been working in Somerset with long-term musical partner Will Gregory on the as-yet-untitled record.

She is currently mixing the results at Olympic studios in London.

Working titles for songs include "White Horse", "You Never Know", "Ooh La La", "Slide In", "Lovely To See You", "Fall To The Floor" and "Time Out Of The World".

The singer described the album as a progression from the 'glam rock' sound of "Black Cherry".

She said: "We had fun with that [sound] on the second record, so we've explored it a bit more with lots of cheeky, fuzzy, synth sounds and lots of synthesizers that probably sound like guitars on first hearing.

"You know, there are so many guitar bands around, we don't need to join in on that one."

She added: "There are a few things on the album that, in a weird kind of way, take on "Felt Mountain", but in a different way, things like "White Horse" and "You Never Know". They're sort of desolate but at the same time positive, sort of gloomily euphoric.

"It sounds like somewhere between New York, Berlin and north-east Somerset, or maybe cold crumpets and bubbles. Or even euphoric crumpets".

Sounds wonderful....can't wait till it comes out!

I keep meaning to buy her albums, but I haven't yet. I do have the Tricky album, Maxinquaye, on which she sings most of the songs.

And she wrote a good majority of that album,I heard. You should pick the two albums up. Both nothing short of brilliant.
