Gossip Girl (TV Series)

I'm not boycotting GG, the only full episode I've watched since Christmas break was last week's one. I've always read the reviews here and on ONTD to see what people think before deciding to youtube some clips or watch the whole episode.

I've changed my mind. I will be watching after all, because I love it whenever Jack pops up to make life hell for Chuckles.

Gossip Girl Exclusive: Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr Not Returning For Season 5

Spotted: Two fewer troublemakers on the Upper East Side.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Gossip Girl is parting ways with Taylor Momsen (Jenny) and Jessica Szohr (Vanessa).

A source close to the show confirms that the two actresses will not be returning as series regulars for the CW soap’s upcoming fifth season, but added that both have been invited back on a guest star basis.

The insider also confirms that GG‘s core five — Blake Lively (Serena), Leighton Meester (Blair) Penn Badgley (Dan), Ed Westwick (Chuck) and Chace Crawford (Nate) — will all be back in the fall. Additionally, Kaylee DeFer — who joined the cast this spring as Serena’s rabble-rousing cousin Charlie — has been promoted to series regular status.

The departures of Momsen and Szohr hardly come as a complete surprise. Momsen — who has made no secret of her desire to make music her primary focus — has appeared in only a handful of episodes this season. Similarly, Szohr’s alter ego has been given little to do save for a little eavesdropping and meddling here and there. What’s more, Vanessa recently revealed that she was leaving town to study abroad.

Thoughts? Will you miss either one of them? Do you think Serena’s cuz will ably fill the villainess void? Sound off below!

^ Taylor is no surprise, but didn't the producers just say a few weeks ago that Vanessa will play a major role in the story? I'm confused...
As for Charlie- it depends entirely on how she looks in a mini skirt; I have my standards... :innocent:

Wow I'm super impressed by tonight's episode. Best one I have seen all season, definitely. Can't wait for next week!!

This was probably the best episode of the entire season. Can't wait for next week's season finale! Time for the Prince & Chuck to "battle it out" for Blair, rescuing the damsel.

I just have so many questions. I am curious to see what other people's response to the episode is first.

^It was disgusting.

Not only was Chuck's physical abuse swept under the carpet, but Jack was brought in to prop up Chuck. And Blair dropped everything to run to Chuck's rescue as usual. I thought it was crap that they were bringing in a "bad guy" in Jack so they could make Chuck look good again - and I was partially right about it. I was just wrong about which guy would be vilified - turns out that Russell set the fire that killed his wife. He made a deal with Chuck about not telling the police and esp. Raina and would leave town but Nate and his big mouth... So Raina finds out and tells her dad they're over, which of course pisses off Russell endlessly and he goes after Blair. Chuck the hero to the rescue in next episode undoubtedly.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The best bits were as I suspected, Jack. Because Desmond is hot and funny. And seeing Cyrus and Eleanor again. Oh yeah, and seeing Serena's psycho cousin make a number on her was pretty amusing too.

I read someone nicknamed Chuck as Suck and it couldn't be anymore correct. He sucks people into his sucky vortex of suckiness so they can look more sucky than him. Blair running to the rescue of her abuser = total win. Not.

I'm so pleased someone else loves Desmond, so pleased to see him back! It's just got so ridiculous recently, I mean more so than the usual level of ridiculousness, I keep thinking Dan will come-to in the shower and discover it's all been a dream  ,that's showing my age lol

i watched it today. So Charlie tries to be Serena - not really a surprise that she turns out to be crazy :D:D
I just have to ask - what kind of medication did Rufus find?

I love how Blair keeps to call Charlie "Serena's Cousin" ^_^^_^

I love me some Demond as well  I love that we get an actor from Dexter and an actress from The Borgias on GG.
Was pretty disturbed that Blair ran back to Chuck but the men in the white coats showing up was entirely appropriate...just wish it hadn't been temporary.
Kati and Isabel and mini Serena and Blair showing up was cute. And boo the obvious ending!
Beeandthecity, I was wondering about the meds too. I assume she's meant to have a bipolar disorder so it would be an antipsychotic?

I hope that if it is bipolar disorder they handle it in a way that doesn't make all Bi people look like rando crazies who go off their meds every time they feel happy about something. :(

Did anyone catch a glimpse of Georgina in the promo for next week or was I seeing things?

^I agree. But I'm not sure getting Serena's psycho cousin is a better idea. If she was supposed to be the new Jenny - great. But I'd rather not GG try to portray any more serious issues like a bipolar disease and then trivialise it like with everything else.

I'd love some more Desmond any time

I find it entertaining that Rufus found the pills in the bin, like anyone else would be anywhere near the bin.

I really don't like the Prince, he is just boring and yes Chuck is out of the picture (well he should be) I really don't want Blair to end up with him unless he 'fights' for her and shows he has something exciting.

Who throws them in a bin anyway? Everyone knows that you either flush them, or try to pass them off as Ritalin on Craigslist.

:lol::lol::lol:^

Seriously, they go from trivializing domestic violence to the classic "bipolar person goes off meds due to stabilized mood and turns into raging stalker" storyline. They treated Blair's issue with a degree of respect in the earlier series, I don't understand why they've gone all Melrose Place (the original) lately.

I like Louis but you just know it's a doomed romance, he's kind and doesn't try to punch he so obviously he doesn't love her like Chuck does

Pretty pleased there won't be anymore Vanessa. I feel like that actress probably made a big career mistake accepting that role, she'll always be Vanessa.

Oh, and Rufus hovering around like a nosey housewife was hysterical. They tried to make it look like he has a job last week but now he's right back to his v-neck sweaters and housewife antics.

Bipolar people usually don't swing back in to manic the instant they stop taking their meds. Not that I have bipolar friends and know from experience or anything like that at all.

I know but they made a point of her swinging between polarities so I assumed bipolar since they didn't say anything about delusions or paranoia or any of the other typical schizophrenic symptoms.
I'm sure it will just be one of those vague nameless mental illnesses that people seem to have on shows like this.
