Ive seen that chair somewhere

Natasha Poly sat in a very similar one, when photographed by Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue Paris back in February 2005. Maybe from that? They're quite common.

Can't say I'm overly-excited about this but it is a very nice image, and fitting for what Alessandro's currently doing for Gucci.

CAMILLA AKRANS shot a similar chair for H&M too

You definitely have, it is a variation on the classic peacock chair which is used in a lot of fashion photos and interiors books. It is one of those pieces of furniture very associated with bohemian, or tropical style so it turns up a lot in those kinds of shoots and has been around for decades. I believe the design originates in the Philippines. More pictures people sitting in various versions of the chair.

With regards to the ads I wish Polina's hair were the darker red shade it had been before I think it would have really popped in this photo. She looks lovely though, interesting though that Gucci would switch from Gal Gadot to a model given that Gal is about to be everywhere in the next year or so with Wonder Woman.

They replaced Gal Gadot with a child?? Seriously? I get that it fits his direction but considering how popular Gal will be next year it seems like a marketing mistake.

This is selling me the idea of a perfume that smells like the changing rooms of a second-hand clothes shop, mixed with the still-crusty underwear of a 70's soft p*rn relic and the bottom of a bird cage. And I'm not buying.

The flanker scent will recreate the aroma of mouldy curtains.

Gal was the perfect face for Gucci Bamboo

Now they have a 14 year old looking girl with boring/empty face expression
Zzzzz

Sales & interest going downhill for sure

I'm personally chuffed that they ditched Gal Gadot for this brand, as much as I like her. Lets be honest, she would not have suited Michele's vibe. And yet, the replacement isn't really ideal. Where was Julia Hafstroem, the new Gucci muse? She fits all their current campaigns.

Love the image at face value! The birds especially was a nice touch, and the lightness of it all does allude to the tranquility of 'bamboo'.

Was this shot by Glen Luchford?

Agree.. And Gal has Wonder Woman coming out next year so she will gain so much popularity. They made a big mistake

Polina is absolutely stunning. Too bad we don't really see that here.

Absolutely. She's amazing and have an incredible face. I love her.
But I can't deny this is boring and vacant. Not her fault tho. So I don't think any other model could have made this any better. It looks like this, because it's obviously the direction they were going, and not because she's a weak model.

eeek it looks like a creepy doll picture. the oversized, Victorian-esque dress, her pale near-alabaster face.

For a lot of brands, the clothing they produce exists in a different universe to the cosmetic and perfume lines that carry their logo. Licensing issues aside, even fashion houses that retain control over these areas understand that if you want to sell a scent to a lot of people, you have to think about things in a mainstream way.

There now exist plenty of niche perfumiers for those seeking what's expensive and exclusive, but if you want to make millions from your products, you sell an image of beauty and success in simple enough terms that you attract a wide variety of people willing to buy your Christmas sets from a shop every year.

Viewed as a fashion image, I get the story of what's going on. But as something that'll grab the attention of general customers looking to make an impulse purchase in return for the illusion of sex and glamour in a spray format - good luck, Gucci. You'll be riding on your old reputation, because not everyone cares enough about high fashion to 'understand' what direction you're going in. They'll just see old-looking clothes on a young girl.

The problem with this is that they are trying too hard to merge all product lines under his vision but this shows that it is not working. I really like his clothing and the campaign but this just falls flat. I feel like Chanel is a great example of good communication across the line. Perfume and cosmetics needs a bit of mass accessibility, a glimpse of exclusivity. This doesn't offer that.

So true!

Beauty and fragrances ads needs to have a timeless appeal. This is maybe too trendy for a brand like Gucci.
Maybe the problem with Gucci and other brands like Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Dior...etc. is that they don't have a clear timeless visual message.

What you said about Chanel is true. Karl involvement in Chanel beauty is very low. He may choose the girl and design the outfit but he is not shooting anything. They have their photographers (Testino, Demarchelier, Goude), their stylist like CDD and clear specifications: most of the time a white background, little to no make-up, simple styling..etc.

At Gucci, they don't have real signature perfumes. They discontinued Ford's fragrances, some Frida's fragrances...etc.

I'm really not convinced by this. It will sell because it's Gucci but the perfume, the bottle doesn't scream new Gucci.
