I don't like it much either. But, I love the fact of Daria's comeback, though!
There's room for both of them in the nostalgia train. I'm just so happy to see them back, even though this ad - in particular, doesn't strike me any inspiration.
Now I want to see Eugenia and Karolina too, damn.
Not always, that's what makes this 'nothing less than hyperventilation' type of fanaticism a little sad, it's never really that loyal because it's hardly about the subject and more about your memories on the subject, so it fizzles out in the same way the commotion came to be in the first place. You see it with pop stars (e.g. 'free Britney!' followed by 'oh.. free Britney is uncomfortable to watch'), and on a lesser degree, you see it with models, such as Gemma. Gemma disappeared when she was already getting her 'adult' body (meaning she stopped retaining child elements in her body) and her comeback was super hyped for years under the expectation that she would look like she did at the height of her career. As soon as people realised that was not going to happen, the interest dropped. Her appearances these days get minimal reactions. Same with Daria, that last cover she did on the streets of Paris, without makeup and absolutely not looking her age due to the chain-smoking habit was already lightyears away from the work she's remembered for. The picture here is what I knew she would look like now (good, but also late 40s, not late 30s) and the poor composition doesn't help but no amount of glam will change this really, and I doubt it will happen anyway.. she seemed to put somewhere in the contract for the second half of her career that her look was not to be altered (kind of like Gisele) so if she remains super selective (and I don't see why she shouldn't), we'll only get more variations of the image above.
