Gucci Resort 2023 Puglia

I spot 6 variations on the same short and sweet style chiffon dress (there's probably more under some of those layers). 3 would have sufficed.

The collections are becoming way too drawn out but the thing is, even if this were edited down it still wouldn't make for a very cohesive collection at all, which is something Michele has rarely been able to do. He's got the deluded mind set of a prolific artist; because there's more, that means it's better. But everything gets lost in itself.

I do enjoy some of the striped pieces, the cowl collar mi-parti knit, and the opening cape. Some of it looks somewhat like Ungaro by Puglisi (take that as you may...).

This is just 'STUFF'.

And that's a very generous analysis.

Michele's Gucci is getting tired. This collection is beyond tedious without much to actually wear for people who live and dress in the real world. This looks heavy, clowny and fairly unremarkable. Slapped and strewn together with bits a pieces from a thrift store sale rack and a dusty dressing up box.

I'm OVER IT.

Sales are falling. The consumer is disengaging. It's time to change it up.

Side Note: Is anyone else getting a pre-breakdown Galliano vibe from Michele's runway appearance?

If the slicker 70s-glam pieces were shown on hangers on racks, I would admittedly be impressed by the sleek luxe, sharp tailoring and flattering silhouettes, still with a touch of tolerable quirky cool: The sequinned gowns, leathers, and fur-collar wool coats are potentially paving for a more adult sensibility. But there’s always been a smattering of these types of solid, 70s-glam touches that always anchor his Gucci. Thank goodness it’s more prevalent— and more prominent, here.

Hope he continues to do away with the Dapper Dan logos/monograms, and juvenile graphics for the main collections. And while he’s at it, also do away the obnoxious, forced thrift store styling, and the annoying cast of children playing dressup, and his Gucci may just find a new life. (Even those children with the attention span of a fruit fly that grew up on his pile-everything-on-and-call-it-Gucci might be actually growing up and out of this messy dressup sensibility.)

I'm stupid, young and naive, so can someone explain what Marc Jacobs did?
He hasn't done anything wrong, and the worst is (kind of) over, but there was a notable period where his personal eccentricities became a little jarring, narcissistic and obscure. Very "I'm in a mad mid life crisis but I'm making it work for me" kind of thing. I think some of his Instagram posts even quoted Little Edie from Grey Gardens, although I don't think he realised the irony.

It's definitely the better of the two, but the personality becomes grating. Considering what he wore with Jared Leto at the Met Gala this year, I really wouldn't be surprised if Michele delves deep into the Little Edie-isms.

There are some really nice pieces throughout but his gaggle of characters and misfits aren't as cohesive as they once were.

I would rather see this broken down into 2-4 different collections with the ideas fully realized, expounded upon and given room to breathe. Unfortunately so much gets lost in this collection.

some of the styling is looking a bit Nicola at LV if you look closely.

On another note, AM looks fatigued and I'm sure the suits above him are giving him the blues.
