Guys Help I Have The Urge To Buy A Fake....

Wyatt says its okay, so I'm doing it.

Okay so I have listened to all arguments. I'm definately saving up for a real one. Maybe I'll be lucky and find one on sale.

In the interum though, I'll probably buy a fake.

Thanks for all the advice though. It was really interesting hearing everyone's input

if you want the burberry scarf for luxury and quality, buy a real one.

Please. No one buys a logoed-to-death Burberry scarf for the luxury and quality. I hate it when people use that excuse to tote items that are logoed to no end. "I buy Louis Vuitton because the quality is unparalleled." Yeah, right!

i support you halfway. it's true though that the more you pay for the something the quality is better. you get what you pay for right, so by buying vuitton you're getting what you pay for , good quality and the status you're looking for.

You can purchase an authentic cashmere scarf at the Burberry outlets for $110. I think they even have the Happy one. Several colors were available at the Burberry outlet in Woodbury Commons, north of NYC.

Otherwise, places like Loehmanns and various websites like Smartbargains and Overstock get the lambswool one and sell it for about $50. Personally, I would avoid this as the due to the itch factor and the lambswool pills horribly.

Burberry scarves aren't too expensive. The cashmere one is about 450$ canadian and the 50% cashmere and 50% wool is only about 300$
I must tell you that they were great investments. I have the beige one in all cashmere and the pink one in 50/50.

I wear them both all winter. They match with everything! I would think about investing in one if I were you. :flower:

So usually I am very anti-fakes of any kind. I think they're vile.

Recently I decided that I very badly want a burberry scarf for autumn/winter. But they're so expensive and I don't know how I'd get the money etc. etc.

Then the thought crossed my mind...

...What if I just buy a fake?

...There are some pretty convincing fakes.

...I live in a small town, no one would notice the difference.

...It's just a pattern!

Guys help me! What's wrong with me? I feel terrible about this. Do you guys think it'd be okay to buy a fake just this once? I need advice...

If you don´t have the money to buy a real, buy a fake!
It´s certainly more honest than to see people that are not rich buying these luxury items.

Who cares if you have the fake one!?!??! As long as you like it, it´s fab!

Now go and have some time to think of stuff that is really important. :flower:

ps- remember that you wrote: "...I don't know how I'd get the money", if someone considers that is more important to have the original stuff, they are for sure giving you bad advice...

go to the Bruberry factory store, ive been to one on vermont and they have a wide seletion, and the prices are better..

im also thinking of buying a fake..i want a fake balenciaga motorcyle bag by lush in white, brown, or green... they sell them on ebay and they r so much cheeper and i kno ill never be able the afford a real one..is it really that bad?

Come to the Burberry factory store! It's 5 miles from where I live  Being Newcastle it's jammed full of that Nova Plaid tosh...

1. Counterfeiting robs the U.S. alone of more than $200 billion a year. It's a cash, tax-free business; legitimate citizens like yourself will still get stuck paying taxes, while counterfeiters line their pockets at your expense.

2. Terrorists, gangs and organized crime syndicates all profit from selling counterfeit merchandise. Sometimes designer handbag knockoffs are lined with drugs and used for smuggling things like heroin, too. There is also evidence that the bombing of the World Trade Center in '93 was funded by the sale of counterfeit apparel.

This is really the main reason I don't buy fakes. I Own 1 fake & it was very well researched to make sure these people were paying taxes etc. At the time I had no idea about the terrorist movement having any connections to counterfeit apparel.

It's true that good quality will be more money BUT the prices on some of these things is insane & has nothing to do with quality. I'm not an expert on materials but great granny was & she once told me that LV material wasn't the highest quality she had seen & that the price was way too high. She said that there are a lot of leather bags from Spain with much higher quality. Apparently you are paying much more than it costs them to make, market & sell them. Their profit margin is way up there.

I personally don't buy things because they have a name attached to them (I think that is silly & just as tacky as an 80's wh*re from Jersey. No offesnse to the ladies of the night out there. ) I buy what I like & what I think looks good on me. The problem is that fakes are against the law & for that reason only you should not buy them. But I do think it's unfair that if you want a burberry scarf (because you like the pattern & material) that they make you pay 3 to 5 times the actual cost of it.

So ask yourself if you really want to drop that kind of money on a scarf? Maybe there is a less expensive brand with similar quality & a more reasonable price.

Here's a nice solution:
Get one a real Burberry scarf on discount. I bought mine at Saks Off Fifth for something like 30 dollars at the very beginning of the fall season. But, I'm really glad I bought it on sale bacause I ended up losing it by February. Oops.

Meanwhile there's some very fashionable bag lady out there with it.
No but seriously, sorry that you lost it. I hate losing things, hopefully you'll find it in the back of your closet or the trunk of your car.

Puhleeze! LOL! If you want to know where money to terrorists come from you need to check the US gov't!! I don't mean to get all political but it irks me when I see ppl spouting crap that has been fed to them via CNN or Fox by a gov't that uses 9/11 to justify anything it says. Do your true research - terrorists are funded by the US gov't and drug trade. HTH!

BTW, OP if you can't find your scarf for the price you want, get the knockoff at a price you can afford...

I may have this wrong but last I checked...

Money from Oil from Saudi Arabia >> Terrorists
Money from Oil from Saudi Arabia >> Bush Family

Two words. Bashkar Bush.

No you are correct. I stand corrected, as I forgot to add the biggest donor of all = OIL - thanks for adding that

where would you get the fake?...even banana republic does lookalikes...and that's perfectly legal and guilt free...

i just bought a knock off of a designer vaccuum...$100 versus $300...and i think it was a smart buy...i also just got some frye sandals which look VERY much like some other designers who charge double and triple the price...

just don't buy something that is poor quality because it won't last and in the end you'll have to buy another and really wind up losing money in the long run...

happy shopping...

exactly...why buy a FAKE when you could buy a look-a-like.. big difference in pretending you have a real burberry scarf and actually having an authentic gap scarf or something... I don't see why people buy fakes.. just buy something equally aesthetically pleasing that you can afford..

I don't really care if it has BURBERRY written on it. I just like the Nova Check in tan. And I'm not going to pretend its real. If people ask, I'll tell them its fake. Because believe me, nothing pisses me off more than when people are like NO IT IZ T0T4LLLY REAL!!! when it says Prado instead of Prada

Beyond a *maybe* difference in fabric, I don't see the big difference between a real vs knockoff burberry scarf. Just get a good one and it'll be fine. Plus, it's tacky for someone to ask if it's real...

I think that's quite an underestimate.

How much do you really think it costs them to make a scarf?

It's just a $20 scarf, I don't think I'm robbing tax payers of too much...

Hell's bells, just pitch in an extra thirty for a real lambswool one at overstock.com. It can't be THAT itchy.
