Gwen Stefani Sneaker Launch at Barney's

I'm from Chicago, and honestly the entire city is conservative not just the Barney's there. Thats why John varvatos is so hot there, I mean every single store carries it. Bloomingdales, Saks, Barney's, Marshall field's etc.. but were talking about New York here, when it comes to fashion you can't compare the two. Chicago is ruled by jcrew and banana, people are way too safe there
I agree

Scott... besides her there is another who also makes the end decisions and her name is julie too I think. but besides that, I was told this by the buyers and the trunk show coordinator. now who would know better, you or them? ;) and what does being a supporter of new or indie designers have to do with what i was saying? did you happen to see the boudicca at barney's? haha

Well,Gilhart is actually the head buyer for Barney's so....

But I was merely defending the notion that she's conservative and it's her style. And my point is,Ed,that it's the fact that the Western world specifically is suffering considerably with commerce in fashion at the moment. The obvious pieces aren't selling at the moment....the safer, the simpler is the absolute best. This isn't 2000 & 2001 anymore, remember. Nobody is taking their chances with certain pieces...everything is being done very carefully and quite conservatively because that's how their customs are responding. How do you expect any buyer to go about choosing what to sell when it's what the majority of the cutomer's want?

Even Seven, the purveyors of everything avant-garde in NY has downplayed their stock to a more subtle hue. And you're telling about Barney's? It's everywhere.

Anyway,it's gone completely off-topic so I'll leave it there. I'm sorry for this:blush:
