A small condo in Japan filled up with nothing but Anna Sui.

A Japanese monk's condo in which he visits once a month, and that is completely filled with Comme des Garcons.

The one room condo is filled with Vivienne Tam

There is also a man with over 30 Thierry Mugler suits, and everything else all Mugler. And a school teacher nicknamed "Maestro Margiela" due to his penchant for Martin Margiela. He will not eat at home becuase the scent of the food will infuse his Margiela. The refrigerator is only used for eyedrops, and the kitchen has never been used.

Also a woman whose first Gaultier item were a pair of pants that did not fit. She dieted until they did, and now has collected Gaultier to the point where the total sum would have bought a house. One has to realize how much a house costs in Japan. Plus a woman obsessed with Gucci everytime a new item would arrive faxes would be sent to her residence. Some of these people, i.e. the Dolce Gabbana, Gaultier, are supposdly the no.1 customers of the various brands in Japan.

This doesn't surpirse me at alll. Everyone has a collection of something in Japan; designer clothes, plastic toys, taxidermied animals; you name it, and there is a guy in Japan with about forty of 'em. Consumerism is insane over there.

lets see, do I want my wardrobe full of Gaultier or a house? Hm ... that's a hard decision. :ninja:

While a certain portion of me can't help but admire that sort of long term dedication and commitment, the rest of me has to wonder if there isn't a fear to straying from the the brand that has carried them thus far.

My tastes are way too diverse to do something like that. I like a house full of all sorts of random stuff, not just designer clothing and accessories.

No plants, no pets, no rubber bats, no movie posters, no batik hangings, no artwork by my sister...it would not be a proper house by my reckoning.

ditto.

those pics are hilarious, btw

Impressive, but my tastes are too diverse, as well... couldn't limit myself so much!

It seems to me that most of these people do not spend money on anything else. Hence the limited housing space, lack of furnishings, etc. Or at least I've experienced, read.

so... boring.

do they WEAR the clothes? Because I dont see the point of wearing them, if you are afraid to even bring food into the house with them. So one day there will be a shrine to hermes somewhere....

I love those pictures. I wonder if the owners do this for fashion or collector's reasons.

I've never felt so self-controlled as I did looking at these pictures.

I see no reason to build a shrine to clothing, with clothing.

clothing... things... everything is meant to DO SOMETHING,

and that somethign is not to sit in a closet or room somewhere.

I agree.

The Anna Sui addict in the first photo looks exhausted, as I would be too, if I devoted my life to collecting items from my favourite designer!

And what kind of budget permits this kind of spending?

I truly don't know whether to laugh or cry!

I've seen thsi before, it's great

i don't have a problem with it, i think it's good that people spend there money on what they like

 this scares me so much.

i wonder if they think themselves fashionable.

and, a monk??? actually, i guess i have the stereotypical monk/nun views.

I think it depends on the designer .like the anna sui girl (anna sui is very reasonably priced) has tons of awesome stuff while the Hermes guy has like....5 shirts and some ties and the trademark orange boxes.
