Which do you prefer : French or Italian Fashion?

I'm going to have to say French especially with Chloe and Lanvin around.

It's a hard question because both are great.

But French fashion is the hottest.

I often find French fashion too boring. I would much prefer italian fashion because it has flavor and the cuts are beautiful. (I am speaking for mens fashion) But italian fashion gives silhouettes and beautiful materials. French fashion is always two things: Black and Skinny.

I love everything Italian, but I have to go with France on this one.
If only because I find it more diverse.

well, there is both the good and the bad in italian and french fashion.
honestly, i would answer italian just because i like prada so much and tailoring but other than prada and tailoring, i like the exotic-ness of french fashion better. but like some other members said, french fashion can be rather dull sometimes

I enjoy the exoticism of Italian fashion a wee bit more than French style.

We should probably say whether we mean to look at or wear. To look at, nothing beats Lanvin, Balenciaga's usually interesting, etc. But IMO French fashion is not just hard to get hold of here, but the pricing is often not very wallet-friendly when you can find it. So far this season I've bought Valentino, Bottega, Lanvin, and MaxMara. So the score is 3-1 Italians

i much prefer french tailoring and styling to italian. i love it because it is aesthetically simple and not so flashy. italian fashion is nice, not bad, but just too loud and flashy for my taste. i'd choose demure elegance over loud exoticism any day!

plus, black colour and skinny clothes is perfect for someone who only really wears black and is skinny ^_^

French! Italian style can be incredible but I simply adore the stereotypical refined and subtle French style. I also love some American style.

When I think Italian fashion I think Versace and tacky/sl*tty... but when I think French I think simple, great cuts and sexy which appeals to me much more.

Well...I think people are referring to different things here.

French style in real life is quite different from what one finds on the Paris runways, little of which is actually designed by French people.

Italian real-life style (in terms of mood color and taste) is a little closer to what we see on the Italian runways.

Maybe you should expand your thoughts about Italian fashion  There's definitely tons more happening in Milan than Versace. I don't think it's representative ...

^ Mhm, this thread sort of generalizes French and Italian fashion, as if all Italian fashion is similiar and the same with French.

If we're talking 'Do you have more favourite designers in France or Italy?' it would have to be France for me.
