Harper’s Bazaar España November 2024 : Constance Jablonski by Xavi Gordo

It's weird the BOOM and the feet together on the first cover

Lovely but the first cover needs to tone the light down a bit.

The soft photography doesnt connect with the styling. This doesnt look nice which is odd since Constance is very photogenic.

After so many years and so many covers I'm absolutely sure that I don't like pregnant women on magazine covers - in any way, any composition, nothing

Even in real life I have difficulties with pregnant women, I'm afraid of, I don't know, getting hurt, bumping into them. I really wanted to understand the fascination that almost all fashion magazines have for pregnant women.

Pregnant women sell more magazines?

I'm not personally interested in pregnancy stories, but I can see how women's fashion magazines would often include people going through this major stage in their life.

I wonder when it became more of a practice to feature pregnancy front and centre on covers - because I can't imagine fashion magazines in the 50s, 60s and 70s were fans of showing it. Would it have been kickstarted by Demi Moore's Vanity Fair cover in August 1991?

I think that has to have been what kick started it. I know in the vintage Harper's Bazaar thread I've been posting editorials in there have been maybe one or two features with pregnant models/celebrities, but you'd have no idea they were pregnant based on how many layers they were wearing. I want to say Christie Brinkley had a small feature while pregnant and you can hardly tell lol...

More often than not, I approve of everything Harper's Bazaar Spain does. However, the cover images here are extremely weak and questionable. The opening shot of Constance from the editorial would've made for one ultra-fabulous cover! What a missed opportunity...

^ I thought the same. Nowadays, it's almost a rule not to use the strongest image for the cover, due to all these unnecessary gimicks.
My bittersweet habit is to flick through editorials and imagine which photo would have been a better cover.
