Harper’s Bazaar France September 2024 : Layla Etengan by David Sims

Stunning image love the colours and mood but agree about the hair the angle makes it look odd like it was falling off and unfortunately there's really nothing that can be done to change it especially since it was essential to the shot due to the texture.

Maybe I am over-reading this too much
But the fact that a relatively new model will only pose a single photo of a Jacuemus runway photo with sunglasses (you can barely see her face) but no image of herself in a Gaultier couture strapless down looking strong and beautiful
This explains our culture and our times in fashion and society, this is where we are now
Unfortunately its a common thing amongst models, some don't realize that some designers, editors or casting directors may cast them off their social media. I know of some models that only post their own retouched images that make them look more commercial and avoid posting any of the massive high fashion that they have done.

"Une Saison De Caractères" by Sims and Alt is great but I was anticipating a collections story featuring the best looks for the new season. The beauty shots could have been a part of it.

this is soooo Alt - and soooo good!

The cover’s photo is weird, something is wrong even if the girl is beautiful.
I love the color scheme. I’m the same complexion as the model so I love all those shades of brown around. For fall, it’s even more striking.

Une saison de caractères is fabulous. Emmanuelle is really an underrated beauty person. I would totally use her for a beauty campaign that is not ordinary.

Maybe this will be a good issue after all.

Having (relatively, right?) high hopes for this issue, it's an understatement to say I'm disappointed with the final result. Bearing in mind that the cover story (which is not a fashion one!) is definitely the strongest editorial in the entire issue, you'll get a clear idea of what the rest is like.

Can you post the rest please Zorka?

Back to form! Last cover wasn't very French Bazaar at all. This one is gorgeous, screams high fashion. One of the best from 2024.

“Une Saison De Caractéres” is smart to remember Liz x Fabien’s Bazaar where they would often showcase this brand of portrait styling by Craig McDean, and I think, even David Sims. And Arena Hommes Plus did the as well.

The rest of the fashion stories are, unfortunately. very forgettable and the definition of filler content—with people just…standing around, shattering the illusion of a solid issue created by the cover and the coverstory. (The glaring, jarring and excessive retouching of her face is still offensive.) Still better than any Vogue tho.

Givenchy Fall 2006 RTW was clearly on the moodboard for the cover. Nice enough.

One of the best magazine covers I've came across in a VERY long time, it's divine. What a truly gorgeous shot! Layla Etengan looks absolutely gorgeous here. Massively here for this type of photography from David Sims, love the warmth and the lighting. The colours are heavenly for this time of year!
