I am horribly scaly, blotchy and lined after a bad cold (and maybe it's getting older, and/or the weather??) this month, so have decided to go on a 30 day 'cure', that is, try to be very healthy for 30 days and see what a difference it makes.

So that means more greens, fish and berries, more tea and water instead of coffee, remembering supplements, and paying especial care to skincare.

Has anyone ever gone on a plan and seen differences to their skin? :flower:

I've gone on bouts of trying to drink tons of water, eating only vegetables and fruits for a couple days - all that stuff will definately give your skin a temporary glow. If you really want to turn your skin around though - I'd say that you nearly need to make a lifestyle change - like always drink tons of water, eating healthy food most of the time, exercise and good skin care habits. I use to have very reactive, acne prone skin and I couldn't figure out why because I tried to do all of those things (but I did attack my face alot in the mirror, so i'm sure that couldn't have helped) but because of that, I was motivated to eat better and live healthier - I also stay away from gluten because that seemed to cause me breakouts. And I've discovered my skin is happiest with a hydrating gel type moisturizer - so all these things have contributed to a complete skin turnaround - like I mean my skin is perfect now. I think it has to do with knowing what is good for YOUR body and YOUR type of skin. Alot of trial and error - but listen to your body.

Yes. I certainly have.

I started eating/drinking only:
- Steamed fish
- Bio yoghurt
- Bananas
- Tofu
- Celery
- Carrot
- Wheatgrass juice
- Soya milk
- Almonds
- Sunflower seed
- Pumpkin seed
- Steamed asparagus
- Soy beans
- Brown rice
- Plenty of water

After only 2 weeks, my skin felt GREAT! And I was fully detoxed; you should give it a try!

Problem- 25 years old aaaaaaand one day I woke up with adult acne!!! No really, one week I all of a sudden got 3 breakouts which just stayed around and more and more popped up and I normally have pretty good skin with little or no breakouts at all....I thought it was hormonal buuuuut it lasted longer than just a few days

Solution- I frantically went and bought proactive and used it religiously for 3 weeks...no matter how sore and dry, itchy and flakey my skin got I kept at it! It did get better and it all went away but now im so scared of it coming back I just take extra care now of what I put on my face.

Makeup Rules - Must be mineral and castor oil free and preferably mineral!

Skincare I use now is called Sukin which has no-
sodium lauryl sulphate
sodium laureth sulphate
synthetic fragrances
animal derivatives
harsh detergents
petro-chemicals
artificial colours
triethanolamine
mineral oils
parabens

I use their range for cleansing and moisturising...plus their facial mist is perfect for setting my makeup!

Its great now, but it was bad for 3 months and ever since I changed my skincare and makeup to something less and artificial full of chemicals, my skin has done a complete 180 back to the way it was!!

Anyone had that happen to them? Work really hard to turn their skin back around?!!

I think there are a number of things that can contribute to the quality of your skin. Obviosuly, diet and exercise are extremely important. Vegetables, fruits, healthy sources of protein and drinking your recommended amount of water each day will make a difference. I'm a vegetarian, trying to slowly work my way into being a vegan - and I've found a more vegan diet really has given my skin a noticeable glow. However, like it was said earlier, if you want to maintain good skin, you should follow good nutrition on a long-term basis, not just thirty days.

Also, a visit to a great dermatologist couldn't hurt. There may be other reasons you are experiencing those particular skin problems. My mother had been experiencing what she thought was adult acne for about a year. By finally visiting the dermatologist, she found out what she was actually dealing with was rosacea - and now she's back to normal. Don't hesitate to turn to a MD for skin help - they can really help you out sometimes.

I'm asian and mainting good skin is a big part of our lifestyle.
Ever since I was little, I've used natural rice water to cleanse my face and steaming it for 10 minutes every third day. We swear by BB (Blemish Balm) Cream which is like a tinted moisturiser but has healing remedies.
Skincare wise, Sulwhasoo is FANTASTIC. It's rather pricey but it contains a heap of herbal ingredients.

Ive been using estee lauder products consistently recently (got GWP's so used them on and off when I felt like it) and have noticed my skin looks brighter and smoother. Ive used Perfectly Clean cleanser & toner and also Idealist serum.

For any Aussies on here Ive been using this
http://www.meccacosmetica.com.au/shop/MeccaCosmetica/AceofBaseEnvironmentalProtectionPrimer/
and even though its advertised as a 'primer' i use it as a serum before my moisturiser morning and night. Its a bottle full of goodness! Definitely changed my skin.

Yes--I am aware of two ways to do this.

1) Eliminate all stress from your life.

2) Visit the derm and get a good drug like Solodyn or Doryx.

^ i agree, stress is a huuuuge factor!!!

Thats why when we all look at our holiday photos and go "ohhhh my skin looked so good there"....its cos we're not AT WORK

I need to do this. My skin got really bad a few years ago and has never recovered. I think it stemmed from stress, a poor diet, no exercise and drinking and smoking. Plus, hardly ever leaving the house! A recipe for disaster, if ever I heard one. It got better once I stopped drinking and started exercising and getting lots of fresh air.

However, the acne on my cheeks has now returned! So I need a plan...

I have the Carol Vorderman Detox Diet book and have been planning on doing it for a while. It's for 28 days so being the perfectionist that I am I feel I should do it in February. But up until then I am going to follow it's basic principles, although I will allow myself steamed fish and low fat dairy. I think the important thing for me is steering clear of alcohol... and removing my make-up before bed... and, yes, water water water! :D

i used to have very oily skin, and i tried so many products and nothing seemed to 'remove' all my oilyness, until i tried estee lauder! the DayWear Plus moisturizer does amazing things to my skin. i used to have little blemishes all around my face, but they're all gone now. also, im using the Advanced Night Repair serum which i think has helped. the Perfectly Clean cleanser is also great. i think it's safe to say that estee lauder turned my skin around.

You are so right, my skin is kinda sensitive and it changes fast, so it can be gorgeous on weekend and after monday my skin is gray and tired again. I just beat few big pimples that surrounded my mouth for couple weeks, I don`t wish them to come back for a a while

I noticed I still need something stronger than cleansing milk, Neutrogena`s cleancing gel (or something like that) seems to the best for me right now, and exfoliation is a must, once or twice a week.

^ You make a good point ... I noticed a difference after I started using a gentle scrubbing cleanser from Aveda. I always use it when removing makeup, but it's gentle enough to use twice a day (and I have very sensitive skin).
