An interview of Heather from zrakor.co.il

Started modeling at the age of 14, Heather Marks is one of the hottest names in the fashion industry today.
She has already done shows and advertisements for Karl Lagerfeld, Calvin Klein and other prominent fashion designers. She has appeared on the covers of magazines such as Vogue, Mixte and Flare, and the future looks excellent

*Heather, did you believe you would be a top model at the age of 18?

When I was younger modeling was something I never wanted to do, I was more of a tom-boy and not into the fashion world at all. That’s why to this day it suprises me where I’m at!

* You started when you were very young. How has modeling influenced your adolescence? Do you feel you've matured very early?

Starting at the age of 14, you’re thrown into such a crazy industry. You’re working with girls double the age of you, I found I was always the youngest girl out there. So to be around all these older girls who have been modeling for a while, you really learn alot! I find you have to mature in this business, its almost like your forced to; personality and maturity is about 80 percent of the business.

* Would you say it is hard to stay at the top as an international model? What does it take?

It's not as easy as most people think it is; long days, late nights. You have to be emotionally up and going all the time. You have to really want it to be there.

* What motivates you, or who ispires you?

My parents are the ones who motivate me. This job is not easy and they know all the hard times I go through. They push me and tell me everythings going to be alright, they are there for me during the good times and the rough times.

* Please describe a unique experience from your modeling career.

Along with modeling you get to do so much traveling! I have traveled to so many amazing places. One that really stands out was when I was 15 I got to go to Zanzibar Africa. The whole experience was absolutly amazing, taking a 2 person plane across the ocean, seeing monkeys in the forest, and the children there are absolutly amazing!

* As a top model, you need to match yourself to many different styles of designers and photographers. Is that easy? How do you do that?

Pretty much you just have to be yourself! Every girl has their own style, and that’s what clients like. They like to see variety. I wouldn’t really say that I adjust my style to match those of designers etc, I dress to be comfortable.

* You are regarded as one of the top runway models. How do you find the atmosphere amongst the models at the many fashion shows you take part in - is it competitive, or maybe it's friendly?

After doing this for quite sometime you realize that this is a job! You learn so much from one another, and grow great friendships, I would say this business isn’t as competitive as people seem to think it is.

* What is your favorite magazine cover featuring yourself?

I don't have a favorite cover that I’ve done. I love having a variety of different pictures, everyone so different from the other!

* In what way is your family involved in your career?

As I was saying, my family has always been such a great help! Since I started modeling my mom quit her job, and now helps me out from home with my accounting and flights etc. I honestly wouldn’t be able to do this without the support I have from my family.

* Where would you like to see yourself in the near future?

This is the type of job you never know how long you will be able to do it for, it could be 2 more months it could be 2 more years, I think I’ll model for as long as I can, and then settle down back home in Canada, maybe open my own business and just relax!!
