Ahh I'm quite the detective! I found an interview (I think around the time of VS) with Heather on citytv.com:
Your City's' own supermodel, Heather Marks is in town sharing some of the secrets to her stylish and successful lifestyle. City Style's Jill Belland is here with the scoop.
This girl has literally exploded on the fashion scene. She has strutted down the runway for international fashion houses, but Heather Marks was happy to hang with her friends in Calgary over the holidays.
The Victoria's Secret fashion show features some of the world's leading supermodels, This year, Calgary's own Heather Marks is walking the runway in the biggest fashion event of the year. When she isn't glammed up on the catwalk, she's a regular teenager hanging out at Market Mall!
"(Is this the mall you grew up in?) This is the mall I grew up in. I kind of came and hung out here when I was younger."
"(When did you get your tongue pierced?) Oh, ha, ha... Quite A while ago! (Did you get in trouble for that?) Yeah, my mom wasn't too impressed."
The 18-year-old is making a big impression in the fashion world.
She was discovered by Kelly Streit and signed to Mode Models at the age of 12. Now she's featured in top runway shows all over the world, most recently in the Victoria's Secret fashion show, seen by millions all over the world.
"It was a little bit nerve wracking because it was my first time being in the show. But they're playing music, and there's dancing on stage, so you just loosen up and you enjoy it," said Marks.
"(So the behind the scenes secrets of the Victoria's Secret fashion show - was that all your hair?) No, definitely was not. We had kind of had half wigs, they weren't full wigs, and they put your hair over the top."
"(Any other secrets? Do they paint your body? How do they make you guys look so hot?) They put you in this closed off curtained room, they have a lady, they strip you down and spray you."
"(So it's spray and glitter and fake hair?) Yup! Fake hair."
Take away all tricks of the trade and Heather Marks is a very down to earth, very hard-working teenager.
"(What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about models?) I think they think us working is easy, standing in front of cameras and smiling. It's not. I've had days where I've worked 22 hours."
The long days are paying off. Marks is strutting her way to supermodel status without letting fame go to her head!
"I'm happy every day when I get jobs I haven't done, and just thankful just to be doing what I'm doing. There's a lot of people who would love to be doing what I'm doing, and it's just not possible. So you can't take it for granted. Everything I do I get excited about."
