I like the yellow tube dress with grey overlay.

But I have a feeling that no matter how good this is, it still wont live up to the name.

All the unexpected, intricate details are absent. I don't think Helmut would have ever used that shade of blue either. Not bad but it's just so incredibly sedate. I always loved how Helmut could combine minimalism, zest and texture. It was truly a remarkable feat, rly.

Who's the designer? TIA.

Agree with all the above comments, but I am glad though that the label is still alive...

I like some of the looks..but the fabrics just look SOOO cheap (and the fact that this is all link/theory, I'm sure they will feel as bad as they look too)

I think the use of blue and some of the pieces are nice..but it doesn't live up to the name

these are some very large shoes to fill.. judging by the resort collection, I wasn't expecting anything remotely close to Helmut's work.. but just a general interpretation of his minimalism.. it's not an atrocious collection per se but comparisons are inevitable when you see such an average show being automatically attached to one of the greatest creators of our time..

thanks for the pics, city girl!.
and WIW, it's by Michael and Nicole Colovo.

It's difficult to evaluate in the end. They did keep to the spirit. Perhaps too much?
That is, the actual hair, shoes, forms, suits, dresses were all pretty much set in stone and haven't been altered at all from what I can see.
Maybe some of the techno fabrics don't translate into pictures well.
Hopefully they will get more playful in the future.
Or get a guest designer in, like Mr. Lang himself?

Thank you very much for the pictures, Citygirl and Stripes.

i kinda feel sorry for the ex habitual designers, not to say that i am feelin' much of their work. but raf simons didnt seem to get it from critics as much, and he also have big shoes to fill too. but personally, i do think raf's execution is a lot more chic, and sharper. while keeping to the designer's flair, he manages to add in some new ideas.
Michael and Nicole Colovos seem to be struggling  on the other hand.

The problem is that Helmut Lang as a brand had been re-positioned entirely as a 'contemporary brand', not a high-end designer label as it used to be when Helmut himself was still designing the collection... In my opinion, minimalistic design without appropriate, luxe fabrics is just bland clothing. This is an excuse for them just to tap on the drape-y jersey part, the suiting and the sportswear in entry-price cotton fabrics. Telling from the actual product, this line is looking terribly 'department store'-like.

Helmut himself took these items, twisted them and evaluated these basics in an unseen luxurious interpretation of what a modern wardrobe looks like and added his whimsical details that would just set the right difference between a copy/paste inspiration and an original design.

I like the design, in terms of the cutting of the collection. :flower:
Love the nude makeup and the hair as well. Clean cut and beautiful.

I think the probl. is lack of tailoring. HL was always about construction even when he seemed to only twisted and drapped a simple dress.

Simple but plain.
what kind of fabrics are those black pieces made of?They look plastic.
