Helmut Lang S/S 08 NYC

Thanks, Mulletproof! :flower:

I do like how they've kept Helmut's general P.O.V. intact. This could've been incredibly offensive, afterall...

Not a bad one to say the least, nothing remotely great, just hip, nice clothes but seriously, Lang needs to make a come-back:(

It is a nice collection although just not the same when he is not the brain behind it.

I like a this lot, I would wear it all, and that's what it comes down to...

I have mixed feelings on this collection. I am a huge fan of Helmut and all his work. I know that the designers wanted to keep his idea of minimalism, but at the same time a line must evolve over the years. I like many of the pieces but for some reason as a collection I don't know if I would rate it an A. Maybe a B+.

weird, i have this hoodie that is very similar to the white one in post #9 but mine is black..
i see something very typical scandinavian design influence in this collection..

i like it ........for top Shop or something like that.......safe and you can just see...its mechanical and lacks passion......just another collection for the masses....

The problem is that Helmut Lang as a brand had been re-positioned entirely as a 'contemporary brand', not a high-end designer label as it used to be when Helmut himself was still designing the collection... In my opinion, minimalistic design without appropriate, luxe fabrics is just bland clothing. This is an excuse for them just to tap on the drape-y jersey part, the suiting and the sportswear in entry-price cotton fabrics. Telling from the actual product, this line is looking terribly 'department store'-like.

Helmut himself took these items, twisted them and evaluated these basics in an unseen luxurious interpretation of what a modern wardrobe looks like and added his whimsical details that would just set the right difference between a copy/paste inspiration and an original design.

Yep I agree.....even the positioning in Barney's illustrates this point. Do note the made in China tag as well. There are a few things I like, but it has been a horrible devauluation
