Another strange country like Gioiello

Delisimo is great B) Adding accents makes it more interesting.

Animaux Morts :P

To the English it will sound fancy because its french.

We've been only 23 miles from France for the past few thousand years so the novelty of writing things in French has worn off a bit.

Why not just name the shop after your friend's surname: think of how many expensive brands are simply surnames, one of the 'coolest' fashion shops is just called 'Browns'...

And I think PrinceofCats might have a point there ... by naming the shop after your friend's surname, gives it a kind of homey feeling. And in this age of globalisation people want something homey, from the neighbourhood, something that sounds traditional ... I also think it would sound cool if you named the place after a spice or herb - like "Chives" or "Marjoram". That sounds cool IMO.

I knew that :ninja::lol: Seriously, I was kidding, but now I don't want to sound like I'm really that brainless :P

The herb thing sounds nice too, herbs in Spanish or French :innocent:

smeli deli

Hey, I actually knew a place called "Schnelli Deli"

In the UK?? Wouldn't that bring thoughts of India?

I think I've never been to a deli in my life ...

That's a joke, right?

How 'bout.......... "Got Matzos?"

Of course, if you're not in the US, you wouldn't understand that one........

Whatever you call it, when it's open, would you send me a Roast Beef w/Swiss & Russian on a Kaiser? And don't forget the Dill Pickle!!!

echoes...!!!!...

out of your choices...
i think fresh is best..

good luck...!!...

:flower:

Thanks again everyone - I showed him all your replies and he loved them - apart from Smeli-Deli which made him laugh lots !!

After another chat we came up with a few more possibles.....

Jonny's (as his name is Jonathan)

or

Feast

Thanks for all your creative input !!:lol:

:flower:

ive always liked the name bare....
maybe not for a deli...?...

but to me its always been synonymous with things like 'fresh'....
stripped down, organic, quality goods....

or what about slice...?..
deli, meats...?..
at least its a little bit different...
:P

slice would be fun to market...
you could advertise with things like 'a little slice of good taste'...
etc etc..

just an idea..

Yeah, but she is in Cheshire :P

I like 'Fresh' and the 'Blue olive' and the 'green deli' .. there may be a downhill using foreign language ..tho "Mejorana" and "La Verbena" are just perfect!

I wouldnt use deli OR posh in the name.

Something more abstract will appeal to that sort of clientele.
Maybe *suis* or something random and french like that.
