Hermès S/S 2021 Paris

She is the most boring designer ever. How do you even show up to work everyday excited about making these clothes?
I wonder if her work for Hermès is boring because she is trying to « design ».... I don’t know if it makes sense but when you look at either the work of Eric Bergère, Martin, JPG or Lemaire, you kinda felt like the woman or the customer was in mind before any attempt to « design ». Margiela was more interested in the women buying Hermès, that’s why he made the decision to go the opposite route. JPG...All those rich women who bought his Couture had Hermès bags and he knew so much about their lifestyle. Despite the gimmicks, his clothes were always easy and classic.

Nadège is clearly in a design project because I’m trying to understand how the last 3 looks can fit into à Hermès RTW wardrobe.

What I loved the most about Gaultier was the little Couture touch he added in Hermès RTW. There was plissés dresses, Grecian draping, laces...It was really an elevated RTW! I just looked at his SS2006 collection. So simple and yet so good. Clothes that looked believable!

Spring 2006 is my favorite Hermes collection, period. It is so beyond fabulous (the show itself is fab...one of my favorite runway soundtracks, too). So expensive, so luxurious and so absolutely rich looking...I mean REALLY rich looking...not like "the idea of a rich woman" but instead, what an actual rich woman would wear. Big difference. Nadege's Hermes feels more like what the former...the IDEA of a rich woman, but not what they actually crave to wear.

It’s another airport collection.
- the materials are so luxurious that it looks like a joke, a woman as an expensive car seat.
- super boxy and weird shapes in a bad way
- those patterns and prints are super dowdy
- those net dresses are a sad studenty project with a big budget. These have been done before better.
- the styling of this show makes it extremely bland.

I understand that these are very expensive clothes, and they look super expensive. But in order to be aspirational they need more than this.

it lacks that obvious elegance and chicness that Hermes always had even without being in your face.
forgettable unfortunately.
