Hitchcock Heroine

I think that this is the hottest and most goodlooking trend of this season

I always thought Hana would have made a perfect Hitchock blonde with her icy looks...

You're right and I've never thought about that before. I love this thread. I've seen Rear Window revived in the theatre and Grace Kelly's first appearance on screen can really only be described as magical. She's gorgeous.

really, you simply cannot go wrong with this style. it's timeless no matter what the current trend. but I agree with softie that it is not practical or easy to wear at all. it does require a girdle, which honestly, is not something I'd fancy wearing on a regular basis. also, if you watch these movies you'll notice that the heroines waddle rather than walk, due to the restrictive nature of those lovely pencil skirts. :p

but it is so lovely to look at. I'm dying for some seamed stockings now. :p glad to see this refined look being appreciated.

I am definitely snatching that book, Hitchcock Style.... looks like it'll make for a fantastic read.

I love this look, and I think it's much easier to pull off than others might first assume...
of course, it does help if you have a small waist :p

out of all the hitchcock girls i've always loved Tippi Hedren the most.^_^

Oh man, I hope the powers that be decree that this look is "cool" again. It's so feminine, elegant, and beautiful. No more baggy boho trashbag shirts, give me a form-fitting cocktail dress and pea coat any day.

I've loved Hitchcock movies and its female leads ever since I was a kid. Tippi Hedren has always been my favorite Hitchcock actress, too. I still find it hard to believe that she's Melanie Griffith's mother

Any ideas where to find such dresses that aren't too expensive? I have a small waist and think I should try to pull this look off someday. Those women all looked so beautiful

Have you looked in antique clothes stores - usually buying the real thing won't set you back too much (depending on the specimen, of course). I have a great relationship with my antique dress dealer, and she pulls pieces for me before she puts them out - that is a very useful relationship to be had.

^Thank you for the tip, I might try that (though I have no idea if we have any antique clothes stores around here). Or I'll just try to make a Hitchcock inspired dress myself. I'm quite fond of the idea of owning such a classic dress.

I cant believe Janet Leigh (psycho) is the mother of Jamie Leigh Curtis! I find it hard to see familiar features!
And yes Im fed up of certain fashions now- when you look back at the 50s everything was so beautiul and sexy yet elegant as well.... Dont think many people know the meaning of that word anymore ;)
