Homeland

I watched season 1 in two days,it's such an amazing show, can't believe I waited so long to see it.

omg, each episode is getting only better and better.
But I'm gonna have a hard time waiting for the next episode ....

I feel like one of the few that absolutely loves Dana! I don't get Chris, though. I love that I hate Jessica, because I think Morena Baccarin is just amazing.

OMG Dana is so annoying. I can't stand that look at her face. She looks mentally challenged.

I was quite amazed to see what Quinn real job was.

^Well. "He is here to kill terrorists" as Estes said.

After this episode Dana is officially the most annoying character in the history of televison. I can't stand her.

I really hope that she will get killed at some point in the near future or at least ship to boarding school.

:lol::lol::lol:

Loved the Jess/Mike faces when Brody came back

Another amazing episode.
I just love how the writers let the story develope itself.
Dana has become extremely intolerable, I honestly can't stand her. I liked her at first and figured she's a teen having a hard time.
Nope, she's just annoying and has really crossed the line this time.
And I love how Carrie and Brody both have issues but somehow their relationship still works.

Everyone talks about Dana being intolerable, at least she does something. Chris is completely useless. I like that Dana is there, honestly. I'm not annoyed y her at all, because I think.. If teenage me was in a situation like that, I wouldn't know what to do either! Her emotions are scrambled, there is a lot going on on top of all her usual coming of age stuff.

I can't wait for season finale, promo is very confusing.

I actually got scared of Carrie's face. I mean Claire is very beautiful women, but her crazy Carrie face looks like someone from other planet.

I'm glad that they finally killed Abu Nazir, I was afraid it will go on forever.

Claire Danes is just amazing in this role. She gives EVERYTHING to Carries craziness even if she looks bad, I mean not pretty. I think for a young actress it´s only logical to "save" some of her femininity and try not to look all snotty and dirty. Yet Claire gives Carrie a rawness and darkness that´s far from her usual cheery and pretty self. In Hollywood it´s so usual to see characters that are supposedly suffering a lot....but always composed and made up, and with their hair carefully blown. Carrie is a mess inside and outside and that´s a brilliant job by the actor. She deserves every award, past present and future.

^ ABSOLUTELY AGREE! I'm so glad for all of the Globe noms, they are all very much deserved!

^^I agree that Claire Danes is amazing.

And this season finale was also amazing. I totally didn't see that coming.
I knew that something must happened but this was brilliant from Abu Nazir's part.

^ It really was awesome, and very believable that he would plot something so brilliant, intricate, shattering.

I need Rupert Friend to be on next season, how awesome was that scene in the bedroom? What a (gorgeous) badass.

It will be interesting to see how they spin next season after ending it the way they did. I just can't see Sal being cool with Carrie doing what she did.

Well, yes and no. She is also more intelligent that most people and has performed exceedingly well at her job. So if she's not typical, it's really questionable to call her a mess. Like Sal so wisely said, she is both the smartest AND the most stupid.

In a way, it's hilarious, here we have a female Jack Bauer and the only way we can be made to believe this of a woman is that she has a mental disorder - that explains her crazed gaze and her extreme focus. And then when she does excel at the outer limits of human ability - we call her a mess inside and out. Simply because she does not have measured movements and her hair isn't styled.

It says something about our perception of women and their role in society, doesn't it?

EDIT: Realized this became a bit confrontational. I really think you have a good point - and also thought provoking :flower:

I agree on many of your points, I see what you mean.

I only meant that it is unusual to see characters played that raw, on TV.

When I say that Carrie is a mess, I could say the same about Saul, they´re lonely people, they take very poor care of their lives and affective lives, they have no friends to talk about their lives, they follow feverishly their impulses and their fabulous brains, even if that means living only for their works.

When I say (maybe being too emphatic) that Saul and Carrie are messes, I mean that their works make them be lonely and not take good care of themselves. House was a mess too, Jack Bauer also of course.

It´s not only a matter of being a woman. heros/heroines are sometimes lonely guys and women.
Carrie and Saul are endearing characters, but in a way, they´re self destructive.

Great debate, I love when characters and plots can give place to a little debate.:woot:

I've started watching Prisoners of War, the Israeli series that Homeland is based on.

I'm only 2 episodes in, but it's so interesting to see the similarities and the differences. PoW is slower and more emotional, not as suspenseful as Homeland, but it's what makes it feel more real. You really feel for the prisoners; they're so broken and frail and not at all like Brody.

Oh, and Homeland's Dana is a goody-two-shoes compared to PoW's Dana! :o:lol:

So the show is back and I've just watched the second episode. The first one wasn't so good for me to be honest, the second one was better. Carrie's storyline brings drama and it's interesting but I miss Brody. I do not know if he can be trusted but I do love the chemistry they have together (with Carrie) and I miss that. It's like there's some void waiting to be filled.
