Is this just me?

Most of my purchases are filled with doubt. I love it! No wait, I like it but it kind of does this weird thing in the back. No, it's fine, all jackets do that. Well, it's my figure, bah I wish I was an inch smaller there... No, you know what, I guess the cut could be better... but then again, no I think the cut is okay and what a steal it is at this price!

I return about 1/3 of what I buy and I usually wish I had returned about 1/3 more (or even higher). AND! I don't buy much to begin with because I don't usually find anything that I like in my price range.

Every so often I find something (usually a shirt, cause shirts are easy with my figure), that I totally love and know I will never regret buying. BUT that is NOT the norm!!

I can never decide. I just bought pants that I can't decide if I should return - Are they too short?? no they're not, they're fine, oh I wish they were an inch longer... no, I just wear pants that are too long usually, these are fine... And there's a pig-leather jacket back at the store I could still get... but wasn't it a little boxy? Not really! Leather is always a bit heavy! But then again! Maybe it could have been more flattering on my figure! But that nice leather at that price??

OH THE AGONY!!!

Anyone else?? please tell me I am not alone :ninja:

EDIT: OH I can't stand it!!! (you see I wasn't kidding about the agony!) I would like people's opinions. The jeans are just a bit more than 2 inches from the floor. Are they too short??

I try not to buy too many high-priced items, so USUALLY, if something doesn't end up working out, it's no big deal.

But lately, I've been trying to ahere to one rule - do not buy unless I love it.

Something else I do... I keep the tags on (and the reciept somewhere safe), in case I don't end up wearing it (or changing my mind).

And Ebay's always an option for unreturnables. ;)

You're not alone Yasmin.

I agonize about purchases all the time. I looked at at pair of sandals on neimanmarcus.com all summer, but didn't buy them. I try on loads of stuff and rarely buy anything. And I'll roam from store to store in search of the "perfect" item. I'd say I take back about 10-15% of what I buy. And I don't cut the tags off until just before I put the new garment on to wear for the first time.

Sometimes things just don't work out. But I have a hard time tossing relatively new stuff, so it tends to sit unloved in my closet for a few years before going to Goodwill.

Thank God, I'm not the only one.

No one wants to shop with me since I have such picky taste and never buy the stuff I try on. Even if I do, it's a plain t-shirt. I'm very fastidious especially since I'm so petite and also since I have a tight budget. Maybe it's the dressing room mirrors (:innocent: ) because I always think I have found the perfect pair of jeans/blouse/skirt/whatever until I get home I find that they ride higher on the waist than I like or the fabric isn't what I prefer or.... It's especially hard for me to find jeans since I'm short and prefer only straight legs.

This is my criteria, when I'm buying clothes:

- the fit is perfect
- the material/fabric is of quality
- I will always wear it
- I'm not buying it just because (insert useless reason here)

If it doesn't follow all those rules I set, I will not buy it.... of course, I do break those rules from time to time and end up sulking over it.

^ same. i dont buy it unless i love it so much i cant stop looking at it. and that the clothing is versatile andthe material aint tacky and sumthing that i will always always wear. even just one lil tiny tiny reason i will not buy. mayb its coz i have a very very limited amount of money..

Well, I used to be very indecisive - but thesedays I am not so sure

Update, I've returned the jeans and bought longer ones, plus the jacket I mentioned, plus a white long sleeve shirt I didn't notice yesterday... oh dear  but of course I have the receipt :innocent:

My excuse for not being as selective as you folks (I usually am, which means I would barely buy anything and just wear things to the bare threads) is that I'm trying to change my style a bit, get out of the comfortable (and boring) and wear something a little more daring. So, usually just the fact that it's not my usual plain one-color sweater is already going to make me a bit nervous...

But then again in my "more daring" selections (a little detail there, etc) I often end up not quite liking the look.... That little detail turns out not to be cute after all, just odd

The tragedy is when I notice after the time limit for returns has passed.... oh dear!!

If I have a low budget for spending I usually go for the most unique pieces.

I think I"m passed indecisive...I'm just confused. With the exception one one friend (she's just like me) all my friends hate shopping with me because I'll spend 30 minutes deliberating over one item. Even when I'm on the grocery store buying something random, like candy, my thought process usually goes "ok, well I realy like twizzlers, but I have had hot tamales in a while, although they make my teeth hurt...." People look at me in the store like I"m special or something. It happened last night when I was at the Gap buying underwear. Couldn't decide between a pair of boyshorts and a bikini cut, so I just stared at them both for like 5 minutes. IT gets embarrasing sometimes.

I am so indesisive as well... Right now I'm trying to deside between a black or white patent Fendi B. bag. I asked on the this or that thread but I'm getting about hald and half so far. So confusing!

If I have a limited or small budget i think ill be more indecisive..but if my budget is open..then im not indecisive :D

This thread is my life story...

I was trying to find a perfect pair of sunglasses last month, I ended up buying 6 different pairs and bringing them home to be indecisive about there instead of in the store. I took pictures of myself in the mirror from every angle, I stayed up many, many late hours switching back and forth from one pair to the next, I took them to work for people to vote on......finally a month later I picked one, and only because if I waited longer I wouldn't be able to return the others!!

it's strange, i'm extremely indecisive about every aspect of life other than handbags. i have my moments with shoes and clothes were a know what i want, but those are more rare. however, with handbags if i see something i want, that's it.

Hmmm... reading the posts in this thread so far gives me the impression that we would probably annoy each other if we went out shopping together! You would probably knock me on the head for hurrying you along.

I'm the sort that looks at a piece and usually know immediately whether I like it and would wear it. If I don't I don't even bother trying it on. Of course, I lose out because sometimes stuff that don't look good on the rack can looks fab when one tries it on. Only if I know I like it, I'll try it on and again the moment I put it on, I'll know if I'll be comfortable wearing it. If not, I'll just put it back.

On and off I have moments of indecisiveness. When that happens, what I'll do is that I'll put it back and tell myself to wait a day or two and if I'm still thinking about it, it means I DO want it and I'll go back to get it. If I go back and the item is gone or out of my size, I'll tell myself it wasn't meant to be. :p

I guess coming from a place where the return policy is crap has taught me to be pretty much decisive when it comes to shopping.

im sometimes indecisive because of my limited budget.
but otherwise, if i dont think about the price, im very sure of what i like and what i dont like...

That's my take too ^_^

Hmm..I pretty much know what works for me now and what doesn't.

I tend to splurge mostly on shoes and bags..as I believe it's harder to get away with poor quality on such items. It also helps if you budget and buy trendy items on the cheap.

Plus, right now I am saving up for some stuff..so it helps me to be more decisive towards what I buy. Whatever cash is unused will go into the fund. :)
