Insi-De Spring 2012′s #RoyaltyIssue we don our crowns and take-up our rightful position on the fashion throne. With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee fast approaching it’s time to live life as a monarch of all things style, music and culture.

Kicking things off on our first Royalty Issue cover – drum roll please – we’d like to welcome to the stage the undisputed King of Fashion… Karl Lagerfeld! Snapping his cover wink himself, HRH Karl discusses fashion, the future and his fluffy pussycat Choupette, with i-D’s Fashion Director Charlotte Stockdale. i-D’s Royalty Issue hits the shelves on March 22nd, with a series of regal covers to be released in the coming days. Good God, I think i-D is really stooping low with its covers. It's trying so hard to be edgy and artsy that it doesn't make any sense anymore imho.

I don't personally believe it's trying to be artsy or edgey with this shot, I think the idea is that it's tongue in cheek..? It certainly doesn't even look like an attempt at edginess to me anyway.

I hope we see covers with people like Alber or Tom Ford on actually... although I doubt it's all designers.

Sui He's cover is particularly striking but overall I like all the covers except for Hahn-Bin's.

I love Karl's cover because it's so cheeky. And the model covers all look pretty great too... Carolyn's really stands out to me. I-D has been on the mark these last few issues.
