^^ Maybe you don't know your iPods that well... The regular iPod comes in 20/60 GB, iPod U2 in 20 GB, iPod mini in 4/6 GB (discontinued), iPod nano in 2/4 GB, iPod shuffle in 512 MB/1 GB.

Why is the iPod mini discontinued? I have one and it works great. I've had it for months without any problems.

Mine's already all scratched up and I've only had it for two weeks... thats the only problem :/ My case wont come in for another four weeks

I just heard that there might be a recall because the screen breaks easily.... just came out and there have been a lot of people coming in saying that the screen just gave out or cracked from the slightest drop that the regular iPod can handle. Anyone else hear about this?

i heard about that as well - i think they (apple, i mean) are doing this right now in fact.. they actually took some website down that was complaining about the easily cracked screens b/c apple was replacing the defective nanos.

same here, why the hell would they discontinue them!? maybe because nano means mini still, they were always selling.

It's not being discontinued, it has no problems with the screen (in general). Apple realised a press statement about it here;

The cracking screens affects 0.01% of the sold players, and was due to a maunfacture default in one batch, they are replacing the faulty ones.

The scratcing thing makes me smile, because all ipods have scratched so easily, my gen3 one is in tatters now

Sorry, I was talking about the nano , They stoped producing the mini the same day the nano went on sale. Jonathan Ives designed it as a replacement for the mini in the first place, as the mini was being copied too much, and had become too common-place.

yes, i have to agree, the mini was being copied waay too much..it will probably happen with the nano too.. but it depends on how cheap it is..if it becomes as popular as the mini..well, we shall see yet again another ipod made.

That's so stupid. The Mini is still popular.. I love my mini.. it's still in mint condition, no scratches or anything..

Unless they plan on making the nano in different colorother than black and white, I think this is a silly move.

I like the white. Because I first wanted the pink mini, then the blue, then the green. My oppinion changes so quickly. I figured white would be the best choice.

I find it unusual as well that the mini will be discontinued. There was nothing wrong with the design..but I guess it means anyone who owns one could make a bit of a fortune in the future if they sold theirs since thay are kinda "limited".

I agree a mistake to discontinue them because that's gives people more choices in how big of a ipod they want in actual size and gb. I still haven't gotten a ipod can you believe it? I mean my grandparents told me to pick whichever one I wanted for my birthday back in june and gosh I still haven't because they keep coming out with more and I just can't make up my mind. I want to see the nano in person first and all the accessories. I think I would get black
