Ian Somerhalder gets a smooch from a fan while leaving Live! with Kelly and Michael on Wednesday (March 13) in New York City.
The 33-year-old was mobbed by his adoring fans outside the studio after making an appearance on the show, but he certainly seemed to be enjoying it!
Later that night, Ian also made an appearance on Andy Cohen‘s Watch What Happens Live where he talked about being the fan-favorite choice for the coveted role of Christian Grey in the 50 Shades of Grey movie.
“There are so many young boys up for this role,” the actor shared. “I can’t say anything other than it’s a very interesting story.”
And when Ian was asked if he was single, he responded: “I would not say that. That’s not the case.”
Ian is currently in a relationship with his The Vampire Diaries co-star, Nina Dobrev!

“We have what governments have been searching for high and low: voice and access,” Ian said. “This is the age of social media. People are tired of having their environment poisoned. Policymakers are going to have to listen. We are the policymakers now.”

On his fashion sense: “For day to day looks, my style is themed around effortless comfort. I’ll often hear ‘Beauty is pain’ and that couldn’t be further from the truth for me! If I enjoy the texture and I connect with the story behind the piece–be it sustainable harvesting, manufacturing,distribution or a “giving back” component from that company, I will feel confident and comfortable wearing that item. But face it, I’m a dudes-dude who likes easy comfortable jeans and t-shirts to keep an otherwise and increasing more-complex world a bit simpler…”
On what he likes to do when he isn’t working: “Immersed in the worn pages of philosophy or a great work of fiction, taking in the hum of crickets and wilderness, and surrounded by the people I love. Simple joys in this life we tend to forget are even there. Taking a minute to leave the office or the studio for a stroll on a brisk fall day or a warm summer one really can work wonders. I find myself, just like the rest of us, trying to find that healthy balance. I’m no busier than anyone else. The 21st century is going to be an interesting time for humanity. My hope is that while taking that stroll, having a conversation with a friend at a coffee shop gazing out the window we realize one thing: We need nature–whether it’s for those worn book pages or those leaves blowing in the clean air we breathe.”
