otherwise the children’s boutique brands are in the same price range & often much nicer IMO

oh god im so not into doing fashion for the under 7's at least - i think that style may be a factor but seeing as they have nearly no say in what they wear that the main priority should be comfort and durability - not something that most of these designers are known for

Interesting comment, but a bit flawed. It is exactly durability and comfort that is attractive about "designer" (for lack of a better word, since what I mean to say is "quality") clothes. Like Nr9 said in another thread - if you are a savvy shopper you can buy these clothes fcheaper than baby Gap - so you can take out the snob-factor, if that's what your post implied.
