Inguna Butane

the backstage smiling shot is so endearing.
Inguna takes the best B&W shots, professional & unprofessional: :)

I wouldn't say she will have to dye her hair back. I know they wanted it blonde for this show, but it was brunette! She was a first choice for this season's show (and would've been there last year, buuuut!), so I don't think her hair color matters as long as her body stays BANGING. :D

I know :flower: Shes gorgeous a classic beauty so anything suits her  And hopefully her body stays that way!:lol::rolleyes:

I'm diggin the black :brows: Is her last name pronounced "Byoo-tane" or something like "Bu-tan-yeh" I just thought since her first name was cool, some lame gas would not be fitting:D

No, it is more like..

Byoo-tah-knee.

As much as I can Anglicize that out! Hee. Not a -tane sound.

I guess, let me explain that better! In Latvian the -e on her name signifies her as daughter of Butan. The root of her last name is Butan; ie, her brother and father are Butans, so.. the last letter on a surname is almost always (with some exceptions! I believe -is endings) pronounced independent.

For example: Asmane vs Asmanis or Birkave vs Birkavs (using Guntars and Toms as example). Bajare versus Bajaris (I believe it's Bajaris in the masculine, it might just be a s if anyone knows and can confirm/deny that'd be great: my Latvian is shiz).

Soo... when pronouncing a Latvian surname you have to split out the last letter as its own sound. So Boo-tay-knee; but it's a very strong e sound, basically. Sounds like knee, if you swallow the kn softly and pitch up the ee. Make sense? Good, great.

(I should note, too, that s and is are masculine endings and e and a are feminine endings. It's just a gender case like most languages besides English have. Latvian is just HARD and has gender on names ^__^ it's like the ova and ov's of Russia on surnames to signal if it is a daughter or son, if that helps understand it!!)

^oh i see, i see. BYOOO-TAN-EE :D
Just like although Liya doesn't have an accent on her last name it's Kuh-Bay-DAY. ;)

Oooh, it's not a TAN sound at all. It's a TAH sound, like as if you're saying.... TATA FOR NOW a la Tigger, haha. Impossible to try and make sense. It's not a tay or tan sound. If you were to break it up it'd look more like..

Bu|ta|ne. The n is a very soft sound since it is the end of a root surname. Not like how it is in her name.

I feel like I am teaching Latvian!!

I love Inguna having dark hair again  It really suits her.

it is just buu - tane
i'm lithuanian, latvian and lithuanian languages are VERY similar, they pronounce it like we do

i'm pretty sure it Buu - tane
