Interview April 2016 : The New Progressives by Gregory Harris

Ooh whoever mention Brana and Melanie Ward got me thinking how great it'd be to see them join W. I miss Brana especially, anyone know why she's been MIA so long??

Maybe Kal Templer left to go to Vogue and replace Grace Coddington... One can only dream

Karl Templer is what Vogue needs right now! I'd be totally behind that (think of it, Meisel might follow in tow). Now that Grace is slowly fading away, there's not much to look forward to. Tonne was never a motivation for me because I feel her work lacks progression. And Camilla, God knows what's up with her lately. The rest are good, but not strong enough on their own.

Hmmm I have a feeling Michelle Obama will be Anna's successor. If you think about it the idea is not that crazy. They need to think outside the box. Those are pretty big shoes to fill and let's face it no other editor has the larger than life persona to fill them. I would choose Michelle and pair her up with a really strong creative director and some fresh new fashion editors like Tom Van Dorpe.

Hahahaha, blasphemous! I didn't know the main hiring criterion for replacing the most powerful fashion editor in the world was having a great sense of style. Because lets face it, she's got zero skills for this job. She'll be better off to tend to her husband and kids, as archaic as that may sound. Don't see Anna stepping off anytime soon.

Is Jane's feature part of the cover edit? Would like to know who shot her. That preview doesnt hold promise, this looks like a weak issue so far.

I'm confused, where from and why is there discussion about Michelle Obama being editor of Vogue?

Haha I did realize I went a little off topic after I posted.. I guess I just got caught up in the Karl Templer to Vogue discussion.

F**k Susan Sarandon looks HOT !! Love her editorial.

Julia's spread is good too. Beautiful styling with an even more beautiful photography & art direction.

Thanks Melancholy.

Fabien’s photography is such a premium— but just like that Celine edit in of the last issue, he goes and ruins it with the distracting graphic layout; I think he confused packaging design with magazine design layout here.

Unless The First Lady has an excessively stylish eye I’m unaware of— and no, I don’t find her anywhere near stylish just because she’s fit and not frumpy like most of the First Ladies before her, her as the editor of the most famous fashion publication in the world would be disastrous. I mean, why not tap Gaga as the editor for W, while you’re at it…

Not that Anna is some highly creative standard I admire since American Vogue is as common and watered down as they come when it comes to the presentation of high fashion, The First lady would bring American Vogue even further down the common totem: The concept of high fashion as an exclusive vision will be wiped out, replaced by that brand of inclusivity and the appeal to the common people that will have American Vogue looking like Oprah’s O Magazine, but with A-list stars in polite designer frocks. And Oprah will be the first coverstar… The horror….

Love Fabien Baron's work, overall a pretty good issue.

Miguel really pushed it with this Rick Owens editorial. I'm actually in awe of all these outfits selected. Can't believe it's so wearable. Anyway, the vibe is basically Owens, with a touch of JW Anderson, what's not to like? I expect cling film prices will soar over the next few months, lol.
His shot is nothing special, I'd have preferred a close-up instead. It seems Rick will not miss an opportunity to show off his incredibly muscled bod.

^ well I was going to answer your question but you answered it yourself..

what's not to like?
It seems Rick will not miss an opportunity to show off his incredibly muscled bod.

guess these days you know someone's creativity is on a steady decline as his requests to be shirtless or just naked go up in similar proportion (Tisci, Jacobs..).

I like Fabien as a graphic designer, but his photography always leaves me cold. It's quite try-hard and in a way feels empty.

Unpopular opinion: Showing your body off is fine when you are 20, but I always find it ridiculous when old guys do it... :ninja:

A very lackluster issue, I skimmed through the whole thing in less than 5 minutes. I'm sure next month will be better.
