^I'm not sure, this is what Nicole Phelps said in her review on Style.com;

With their large, elliptical brims, their visors (borrowed from a famous Irving Penn photograph) accentuated the bold diagonal lines.

It doesn't really matter though, I'm just going through 'Penn mania' ATM and wondered if anyone knew.

^ First I thought was that David Bailey pic too, as I told you, but maybe you can check the Balenciaga and Spain book. There's a similar pic there but I'm not too sure if it's the same dress nor if it's by Penn.
