Is The Fendi Worth This Much?

Hi,

I don't know that much about high end (or, at least what I consider high end) bags, so I thought this would be a good place to ask.

I recently bought a black soft-leather mini mama shoulder bag that is handstitched in brown. It is a very nice bag, and I like it because it's understated (no busy logos), and it's simple - just a silver Fendi logo as the clasp.

But..., the bag was a little over 1G...and I'm suffering a severe case of doubt and buyer's regret. My question is, do you all think that the price is worth the bag that I've described? I've never, ever spent so much on a single item before, which is why I'm having the sudden panic attack. What made me do it was that I finally decided that I should get one good, well made bag that will stand up to passing trends and last me for many years. But again, I'm having new doubts...

The style, by the way, looks like this but is of soft, matte leather:

Was it worth it? Should I get something different? What have your own experiences been on buying high end handbags (price vs. quality vs. availability)? Aack!! Very conflicted. Please tell me what you really think! And thanks for letting me have a meltdown...

Yes, it's beautiful. When I pass women on the underground I always look at their handbags (gives me something to do) and when I see badly stitched, poor quality leather, ugly proportioned bags (which is about 99% of the time) I think, 'cheap!'.

welcome to the world of the one-thousand plus bag...my only advice (and i completely don't know where you got the bag) is that you should return it if you absolutely do not LOVE it. most fendi boutiques (at least back in the days i was in my baguette phase) only allow exchanges within thirty days...if that. usually spending a grand or more requires me to be IN LOVE with the item for an extended span of time, but then again a thousand dollar bag is a rarity in my closet. if it represents a sacrifice for you, make sure it's a scarifice for something you absolutely LOVE or else next season you will regret it.

1 grand?? NO WAY!!!!!!!!! You have spent wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much for a fendi bag... good luck:)

I have to disagree with you on that You have to REALLY love something in order to spend that much on it and if you love a fendi bag that much then so be it!

Honestly... i think that's wayy too much to pay for a bag. I have a similiar one.. and i got it from... THE GAP LOL! but it looks really alike... and i got it for thirty bucks (canadian)

for 1G, I personally would go for something else other than that Fendi bag there.
But if you are totally in love with it, it is worth every penny! :flower:

Well your Gap bag probably won't hold up over more than one season ;)
I think if you like the style and love the quality then it's worth it. These bags are something that you might get sick of the style and retire for a season or two and then bring back out. They are made well and have a classic look about them.

i think you are referring to the "SELLERIA" range. those are limited, handstitched and in deed more expensive than the rest of the fendi bags ;)

1G? fo rthat size? i dont think that is appropriate. but if it makes you feel better they are numbered and therefore not that common :P

i love my louis vuitton 1,000 bag..... but it is large!

yeah, I also think it may be SELLERIA she's talking about.

here's a picture, but in different color.

^^^ Yes, that's the one, MissPurple...except in black with dark brown thread. I really like it a lot except that I don't know that I can justify what I spent for it! So, I hear what you're all saying...

Er - so my next question is, do you think the boutique's salespeople will be extremely offended to see me walking in with a return?

Anyway, thanks for your input, everyone. I guess next time, I'll get your opinions first before I buy something like this.

Oh, but - isn't it a nice little bag, though? *sigh*

the easiest way to avoid b*tch sales associates when you need to return something is either go to another store and say it was given to you as a gift or say you were buying it as a gift for someone and they didn't like it...

i don't know about you but my splurge-guilt threshold on bags and shoes is right around five hundred...it's like when they start to get more than that i start to have issues with having bought it. but there are exceptions to every rule...but it goes back to love...maybe after a promotion or two my threshold will rise...happy hunting.

After seeing that picture I must say that, that is a GORGEOUS bag and indeed classic. not only is it something that would last you through numerous seasons (and you would probably spend that much on buying new bags every season anyway) but the quality means it is something you could pass on down to a relative or close one in the future. That is my take anyway.

Well you know just take it in and say "I've changed my mind I would like to return it" I've done it a million times at fendi
