Lol aww, you'll get the hang of it. I wish I knew how to explain it better because I roll my tongue so easily and if I knew how to explain it it might help you lol. Note though that if you go to ukraine you have to speak russian perfectly too because if they hear you speak english or have an accent they will up the price on items you are trying to buy, well in kiev that is. My ex boyfriends friend was going to buy shoes and she's from ukraine but lives in america now, she said "ok" (it like slipped out) and they made the shoes 30.00 instead of 17.50 (btw you can get some really good shoes and clothes over there at a cheap price!) I also heard they are kinda corrupt over there too though, my ex would go back every year (he was from kiev) and they see that he lived in america now on his passport and they try taking money off of ukrainain americans because they think they "are rich" so basically they paid them off and they left them alone.
But Ukrainian sounds interesting though, I guess it sounds somewhat like russian maybe?. Good luck learning it. And traveling there, you just have to be careful, esp. if you're an American going over there.
Rolling your tongue can be hard for some people, but it is what it is, rolling your tongue. Just keep trying, you'll eventually get it =). I learned in spanish to say rojo and rolling the r many times. Or when I was imitating a friends dad, he spoke english with a strong russian accent so he sounded like this, "you need to learna to speaka a russian" and then I would slightly roll the r in russian; if you hear someone do it, it's easier to copy.

thanks for the reply !! I typed wrong in the last post,I shouldve typed"NOT becos i want to go there" lol i dont know why i typed "but" ,maybe too much water in my brain lol so your ex was from ukraine?? i know it sounds akward but could you tell me what s that like to date a ukrainian, say the one from kiev (you probably already figure out why im asking this question lol) please tell me more ,i really need to know.
i know nothing about that culture .![]()
. He had really blond hair and like ice blue eyes, they were so stunning. I always end up with blonde guys and someone told me it's because I have blonde hair and blue eyes but ? I don't know maybe I do that subconciously. I think a lot of them came to my city in like 91' to 93' because of the collaspe of the soviet union. And he missed kiev I think so he would sometimes dis america but it was funny. So anyway, when you are dating they usually pick out the resturant and they like really nice things (cars, food, clothing, etc.) and they also put women first too (always). And are like the definition of a gentleman. Although he was also a typical guy sometimes too, but we barely ever even had an argument, lol so that was a plus. Compared to other guys, he was more into holding hands when we walked around and he was into pda (which I'm not, but I just had to make that clear to him.) (public display of affection) If you date a ukrainian guy you'll probably go to sushi resturants or russian resturants or really trendy lounges and such. Blinis are really good. He also drank a lot of tea. (we have a large russian section in my city (philly), so the signs are all in russian.) Most but not all of his friends were russian/ukrainian but I think 85% were. And his parents were extremely nice. He drank a lot of vodka when we went out but he could hold it and he didn't get like drunk like some people do. He didn't smoke or do drugs though so that's what I really liked about him. (It's really hard to find a guy that doesn't do either now days.) He didn't have an accent either, just stressed certain words but his english was extremely good. And when we would go out and see some odd people at a lounge or something his friends would start talking about them in russian (but they woun't ever talk about you in russian.) Culture wise, the ones here are very established and if they see a ukrainian/russia speaking only russian and barely english, they call them off the boat and look down on them (I found that odd.) A lot of the ones from philly are either from new york or have family there. He also had different view points about america because of where he came from, so you just have to see eachothers differences. They're very funny and very european if that makes any sense
. If you have any questions just ask, I don't know what to type lol.
i see alot of similarities from what you said ....i wish i had a bf like that lol (sorry...if any innapropraites),seems like ukrainian are really nice and kind and hot and everything hehe~
but when it comes to a relationship i just cant stop thinking ,ok ,he is western and hes different...
thanks again
I'm gonna learn a third language next year. But I couldn't decide which one to choose. First I started learning German by myself, than French and now I want to learn Japanese, so I can read manga.
I kinda miss the both the other languages now though. But i can't be so indecisive. I need to go step by step and not get so anxious about it.

gosh.. you said it! I already got Cantonese under my belt, but my Mandarin is in a complete humjumble! Eh, knowing Cantonese long before I knew Mandarin is harder when it comes to talking... my pronounciation is slightly off a lot of the time, but it makes listening easier!rouge said:I'd love to be fluent in Chinese Mandarin...its so hard.
